Journalism 2017 applicants

I've applied to:

Sheffield Hallam (conditional)
Leeds Beckett (submitting a piece of journalism by 23/11 at midnight)
LJMU (shortlisted for an interview)
DeMontfort (shortlisted for an interview)
Huddersfield (conditional)

I'm going to firm Hallam and hopefully insure Beckett if I get an offer, eeek!
Anyone else applying for these uni's/journalism in general? :smile:

I just sent in my application today after visiting 8 different universities across the country. These are what I've applied for in the Journalism course:

1) Falmouth University
2) Sunderland University
3) De Montfort University
4) Bournemouth University
5) University of Central Lancashire

Yeah, me too! What date are you opting for?
I think it's because they have now renewed their NCTJ accreditation and therefore must interview in line with NCTJ guidelines.

I think I heard back about a week later. They do say that they will reply to all applications in 10 working days, so if it's been longer than that I'd give them a ring.
The admissions test was two writing task one was an essay and one was a news piece and you also need to submit an example of your own work.

I'm still debating between Sheffield, Leeds, Cardiff and City anyone got any views ?

Having looked at both Cardiff and Sheffield I think it depends what you want. Cardiff is more of a theoretical degree where you don't actually do any journalism you just theorise about the media whereas Sheffield prepares you for a career as a Journalist equipping you with all the various practical skills as well as media law, shorthand, ect. Also Sheffield is NCTJ accredited.

All of mine want me to go to an interview including DMU. Any idea what to expect for a Journalism interview, they all mention something in relation to the NCTJ.

Nott Trent - conditional
Derby - interview
Uclan- interview
Leeds - no answer yet

Providing that I get an offer from Leeds, I want to put this down as firm and Nott Trent as insurance.

I'm hoping to firm City if I get an offer and have to decide for insurance, probably LDN SB or Goldsmiths though.

Is anyone else going to the City Selection Day on the 7th???
