Am I the only one that thinks this forum is right wing, not left wing?

Unfortunately at the moment it does seem in general the Overton window is moving so far to the right I wouldn't be surprised if I started seeing debates about not giving the lazy, ungrateful, starving orphan children undeserved support.

The thing that gets me though Is all I see on this form despite most threads seemingly having right wing topics/complaints is the idea that this forum is left wing. Am I blind and missing something? Almost all profile pictures here have flags, alt-right memes or something to satire the "regressive left" and anything that is remotely left wing sounding gets several attempted refutes.

Regardless if you are left or right would you not agree this forum at least in UK politics/Debate and current affairs is right leaning?

If you're asking about this particular area of TSR, I completely agree that it's right wing.
:sigh: But most left wing people like me don't really comment because the right just attack and it's not worth it. There are probably more leftists than right wing people on TSR but the right are more vocal.

TSR has always been, and will always be left leaning.

Overall yes. But I'd say that the politics forum is probably even if not right leaning.

Seems to be a lot more tories and kippers who regularly post than there are labour and greens.

Then you completely fail to understand politics, or indeed debate.

What would you have people do, if they disagree with your comments?

D&CA attracts a lot of right wing people. Those of us on the left gave up a long time ago and have basically resigned ourselves to the reign of chaos and anarchy in here. We find threads to talk in that have more subtle titles that are less likely to attract large volumes of sexist abuse and xenophobia

TSR is not generally left wing as people in this thread are claiming. It's liberal and 'middle of the road' which reflects it's demographic make-up pretty well. For most of TSR's life, it was populated by very middle class and quite privileged users. It's a standing joke that the moderation team has disproportionately been made up of medicine and Oxbridge students, but it's true.

Commercialisation and significant expansion on TSR led to a bigger diversity of participation which - unfortunately - includes the growing far right.

It's a bit of a truism to characterise moderation as left-wing, when any kind of regulation or governance at all is inherently 'left' from the perspective of many people on the right :p: You don't hear them saying that about Facebook, though...

No I do but on TSR it is not enjoyable. I mostly do not bother commenting anymore in political forums here. The website is overrun with trolls and the Tory + Farage youth.

not attack?
it's a mixture
but the moderators are definitely left wing
...as possibly just confirmed a moment ago...
(not saying a word - don't worry - it'll be our deep, dark secret.)

I've always found this forum to be pretty left wing... It's to be expected when a majority of active users here have never had a full time job and rely on others to pay for things

Resist the temptation.
No, I don't think being being realistic and factual is right wing. The reason you believe that is because you have been convinced that everyone who isn't prepared to be politically correct is a fascist, a Nazi or a racist. This bubble is now finally being burst. Your own bias and groupthink is what is leading you to believe that this forum is right wing. I'm a left wing liberal and people along your line of thinking are completely convinced that I, and everyone else who doesn't like ********, is a mini Hitler just because we live with our eyes open and use our brains instead of groupthink.

Also, having a flag is right wing now? LOL

My flag isn't even of my home country so does that change your line of thinking, am I a multicultural liberal tolerant progressive in your opinion now? :h:
"where you're born"? in what context?
I go off on islam in the context of birth because such adherents only believe in it because they happened to have been born in an islamic family. isn't that true at the end of the day?
if it's a matter of who the government should protect, then it's not strictly about birth but citizenship; citizenship isn't reserved only for those that are born in a nation but also those who're granted citizenship after a certain amount of time, right? it's more about taxes in my opinion - no taxation without representation; if you don't pay taxes (i.e. people from other countries) then there is no social contract for you to enforce

but I'd still say this forum is a mix of generally libertarians vs socialist internationalists. you definitely get apoliticals in the other subforums though

If you are talking about the anti Islam threads then you are wrong.True liberals would oppose islam. However the mainstream liberal media seem to have lurched so far to the left that they have come full circle and now tolerate intolerance especially if it comes under the cloak of religious freedom.Simply put if you tolerate religious intolerance then you become intolerant yourselves.

The forum is clearly a left wing majority if we rule out all of the people that have no interest in politics and the trolls that come on here. and yes there are most of the right wing posting in the debate forum as they enjoy debate.

As for labeling everything that is right wing as far right you really risk the meaning of far right. no one on this sight is far right at all besides the trolls some are right wing but we do not have any serious neo nazi black hating people that preach at all.
this is like me saying that everyone that supports the nhs a Stalin like communist that has killed millions of people.

We dont talk about it much on Facebook as it is not the place for real political discussion and there are far better platforms for political debate. I have no problem saying to people I am a conservative and I believe in controlled immigration. But many moderate conservatives are being harassed as anything that might seem non left/centrist has to be racist,Islamophobic ect.

On tsr you hardly ever see real racial or sexual abuse and that which is labeled so is normally something more conservative and no where near Neo nazi.

Many of the right wing people on this site behave in a polite manner and enjoy engaging in debates as do the left wing.

+1
Yeah ive noticed a lot more right wingers than left, I think its cos they come here to express opinions because doing it in their own life people see them as Klans members.
No-one's ever going to 'prove' anything on this either way, but for my two cents I reckon there's a close enough even split but the righties shout louder. I'd also say that on average the lefties are more moderate than the righties (any before anyone accuses me of bias on that score, me calling a lefty "moderate" isn't a compliment).
