Uni Probelms

In July, I had a place at Gloucestershire Uni confirmed to study Radio. I deffered this to start in September 2017 as I wanted to take a gap year.
Yesterday, I noticed on the Uni's website that their was no page for the Radio course. I emailed the Uni to ask them. Today I received the reply saying that they had chosen to not do this course starting from Sept 2017. If that is the case why did they confirm my place? I have had to reapply for UCAS.
They probably decided after they confirmed your place. They can cancel courses right up until they are due to start. It's bad manners that they didn't alert you of the decision though.
