No your on another routeway like I said before it all depends on where you get placed.


All the new starters are on the 26 week thing now. It won't vary depending on location.

I don't know any of the new starters who are on the exam course as that, I thought, had been replaced by the course I'm on!!


What's your job role and location out of curiosity? I'm awaiting a start date for Liverpool.

Okay if you say so, I mean I just started and I know what I'm on.
I know for a fact that multiple choice exams have been done away with because ultimately you can guess the answer for those and this is what some people did. Its not a sensible assessment of someone's abilities. I understand its much more module based now (a close friend works in the same dept at the lower grade so has been through all this). The maths element also bothers me as someone who suffers from Dyscalculia but tbh, like had been said, if you're educated to GCSE standard maths, I don't believe there will be any problems! It's just remembering policies procedures & legilslation and making sure you have a calculator to hand 😉

Wow I wish the multiple choice exams had been done away with, if your in specialist PT You will probably do the exams. Have you checked your offer letter?

Joy! I will go back and kick my source! He was adamant no multiple choice exams. I don't have a problem with them myself but I have to say I don't care for those types of assessments! But then who does. How long were you working there before you sat your first one?

I only started on the 28/11 not done any yet but will have to soon!

Just wait for your offer letters, some business streams have adopted the new routeway, I think WMBC has. Specialist pt is soon to be joining WMBC so who knows what is happening in regards to the module exams. For now we are taking them.

Yeah. 99% of people that apply for London get croydon - even if Stratford was the preference.

That's so strange. I thought everyone was on the tar route way!!! It's madness to have more than one training programme for newbies!!!

The only thing I can suggest to do is see if you can get a career break with your current employer say for a year and see if you can work it that way if all should go awry with this within 12 months. Obviously if HMRC are prepared to throw you onto the job market if you fall foul of their standards then there needs to be an understanding from their part that you need to cover yourself


Most employers won't allow to begin another employment during a career break.

Does allow it as long as it isn't a competitor but I accept you are right in most cases
Just got an offer for 1667/16, does anyone else's say they'll be paid nmw when you was originally told 23,600?

I got my formal offer from 1667/16 last night and they've given me an HO role rather than an O so I've asked them to clarify - they originally said 23,600 for an O role

Well they've given me an O role but told I'll be paid nmw even though it originally said 23,600 on the provisional offer. I've emailed to ask why

Could nmw not just be the department you'll be in, i.e, National Minimum Wage? Salary should £23,600 for O grade:smile:

I dunno it just says you've been allocated to national minimum wage so would that be actual national minimum wage i.e for my age would be 6.95? It's customer compliance officer if that makes my difference and anyone has had the same offer?

It's nice to see offers finally getting issued to people who have been waiting months. I wasn't expecting to start before the new year with how long things have taken at each part of the process.

However, last month whilst on holiday I recieved a start date for 14/12 in Liverpool and grabbed it with both hands. Is anyone else on here going to be starting with me next week?

I too have lots of reservations about the issues surrounding exams and the shorter training timescales they seem to be introducing, but at this stage in my life and career I am willing to take that risk and see how it works out for me.

I'm pretty sure that means you have been allocated to the NMW department:smile:
