Russian plane 'disappears from radar'

A Russian plane has disappeared from radar just minutes after take-off from the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Russian media say.

"They are quoting a source at the emergency ministry as saying the missing aircraft is a Tu-154."

"Between 70 and 100 people are reported to be on board the plane."

"Unconfirmed reports say the aircraft belongs to the defence ministry, flying to Syria's Latakia province. Russian officials have so far made no comment."

what one earth gosh no!!
this better not be Turkey again I swear I am not been dragged into a war to defend Turkey. They keep acting out of order to Russia and I can't blame Russia if they eventually go enough is enough.
Doesn't the Tu-154 plane have a bit of a reputation for crashing? For all Putin's talk of modernisation, the Russian military is still dependent on very old technology.
I'm hardly the biggest fan of the Russians but RIP to those on board.
It certainly sounds like a technical fault with the aircraft rather than any hostile act. Quite a Tu-154s have lost before but apparently mostly due to poor weather rather than poor maintenence.

You don't have to like an oppressive regime to feel sorry for people dying and their families.

Law and order is not oppression.

I suppose the rampant racism and homophobia are law and order?
Not sure how so many of you have missed this passage:

"An audio recording played on Russian media and said to be of the final conversation between air traffic controllers and the plane reveals no sign of any difficulties being faced by the crew.
Voices remain calm until the plane disappears and the controllers try in vain to re-establish contact."

This means something went very wrong, very fast. Surely the plane couldn't have just exploded...?

There is no homophobia nor racism by the government.

So the law "for the Purpose of Protecting Children from Information Advocating for a Denial of Traditional Family Values", which outlaws such 'gay propaganda' as showing a gay person in a relationship in a non-negative manner, is not at all homophobic? The law also infers that homosexuality is in some way able to be 'caused', with its ban on anything that causes minors to "form non-traditional sexual predispositions". Many psychological authorities in the UK refute that sexuality can be changed, for example with conversion therapy.

Someone was fined about £100 for holding a sign saying 'Freedom to the Gays and Lesbians of Russia' and fired from his job. Someone else has been repeatedly charged under that law for holding a Facebook support group for LGBT youth. One of these times they've been fined over £650 for it.

Even FIFA 17's been in the news, possibly having to have its rating increased in Russia because it allows the player to have rainbow shoelaces.

So what is wrong with that and how exactly is that homophobic? Being gay is lawful, as long as you don't spread propaganda. Sexual orientation is each person's personal matter, your sexuality should not be shoved up to everyone. Children should not see gay propaganda because it has an effect on them, against the russian traditional values. To what extent do you think this law has to be stretched so you start considering Russia non-homophobic, until it's lawful for two men having sex on a park bench? Or when all the tv shows become single sexed?

All the evidence points that you cannot change someone's sexual orientation, even a child's. That in itself invalidates one of the reasons for the law.

When propaganda includes just showing a character who happens to be gay, don't you think the law's clamped down a little too hard?

They're not gonna create a committe which will filter every part of homosexual stuff to decide which one is deemed as legal or illegal. The law is made so homosexuality is kept on the low.
