The white man is bound, gagged and repeatedly assaulted as the gang of racist black thugs force him to say "**** Donald Trump" and "**** white people". The victim in question has special needs and was described as "high-risk missing person from northwest suburban Crystal Lake". Four people, two male and two female, aged 18, have been arrested.

I'm rather surprised this rather horrific story isn't getting more attention from the media. It's not fake news, it wasn't a hoax, it actually happened. But only a handful of papers and broadcasters are talking about it.

The poor guy was mentally disabled, too.

Two individual cases don't make a dataset, but it shows just how low the bar can be for a hate crime charge.

For me it's 2nd top story on the BBC...

The article mentions the racial aspect.

Police did call it a hate crime, albeit "possible". Which at this stage sounds a bit like calling someone an alleged murderer rather than murderer, before a possible conviction by a jury.

Imagine for a moment that a young black man with special needs had been kidnapped, abused and tortured by a gang of smirking white youths?

Imagine watching a video of this black man’s horrific ordeal streamed live on Facebook?

Imagine seeing and hearing the white assailants systematically torment their black victim, physically and mentally?

Imagine watching them kicking him, punching him, scalping him and flicking burning cigarette ash on the wounds they inflicted with their vicious, sustained assault?

Imagine hearing one of them shouting ‘F**k Barack Obama! F**k black people!’ as they did so?

Then imagine the video of all this emerging and hitting TV screens and news websites across America.

All hell would rightly have broken loose.

There would have been instant huge protests, and probably riots.

The #BlackLivesMatter group would have lit up social media demanding ‘justice’.

Black celebrities, led by the likes of Beyoncé and John Legend, would have made statements expressing their fury at the incident and their solidarity with the victim.

Police, under the huge pressure of such concerted public outrage, would have undoubtedly confirmed this as a hate crime.

Yet as I write this, I don’t see any protests, riots, social media campaigns or celebrity statements.I don’t even see the police having the guts to call this attack what it is.

Stuff like this is caused by the racist system that oppresses PoC daily. There's no doubt that this is disgusting but it hasnt came out of nowhere. exactly. they have nothing to look forward to because they're are so disadvantaged in society. Race also plays apart on the war on drugs and in prisons which further leaves black people in horrible situations. If people feel that they have nothing to live for and result to crimes like this, we have clearly messed up somewhere. Let's face it if you leave people disadvantaged in society for too long, they're going to take extreme measures. This is a cry the system is broken.

You act like black people protest and riot whenever there is a crime against them. There's a difference between protesting unlawful killings by the police who are supposed to protect you and protesting every other crime that's committed by a different race.

When Dylann Roof killed those black people in a church there were no riots or looting that took place. He was widely condemned and rightly so and has since been found guilty. These 4 disgusting imbeciles will get the book thrown at them and rightfully so too.

Look this is clearly an awful act that needs to be publicised. But is it just me or has this site been take over by lurkers from the_donald or something? Every other post is just pure vitriol aimed at immigrants, or just race baiting to the max. Was there any real need to highlight being BLACK and WHITE? Shouldn't the focus be on the crime itself and not the racial identify of the perpetrators, which is abundantly clear from the video?

Stuff like this makes me wonder why this site got rid of down votes.
