medicine: yes or no?

My father doesn't want me to study Medicine because he thinks it will be too stressful for me. He has a valid point in the fact stress can exacerbate my mental illness, however i can't give up on what i have always wanted to do. My mother , on the other hand, is really supportive of the going into medicine idea. What shall I do?
