Real life cambridge student here,

I'm bored. Ask me anything you want to know.

What subject are you doing?

Why are you an alchie?

Who's your all-time favourite Prime Minister?

Why aren't you doing work now? I thought everyone at Cambridge had to 24/7?

Saying "1% of the top 20%" makes it seem a lot worse than it actually is, until you realise that black candidates only make up 2.4% of applicants (this is an issue in itself but not the issue at hand here). Black candidates do have a lower success rate but the disparity isn't as bad as you make out

Besides, your application isn't just random chance, all that matters is how good you are compared to others.

2.4% of applicants you speak of are not interviewees. So that doesn't really mean much or make my argument any weaker, because regardless of the exact figure my chances are A LOT slimmer than majority of interviewees if you knew my life, background, etc. The stats are just a bonus to confirm my fears 😂

Yep, that describes my plans for Thursday perfectly

Mhm, either way, alcohol will be present on Thursday

Southerner over here who doesn't use cutlery wherever she can get away with not using it. And yes, I spend my money on alcohol

Check your ancestry. Highly likely your descendants were Northerners.

Cambridge are one of the best unis in the country at being holistic and taking into account external factors (financial/geographic background, extenuating circumstances, being in care etc...). Maybe this will put your mind at rest: http://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/applying/decisions/contextual-data

1. A humanities one.

2. Cam has made me one.

3. in modern times, Blair. I rate Gladstone as well.

It's "vacation" at the moment.

But I've still got a ton of work.

Given it's 10pm on Sunday night I've given myself a break!

How does Robinson usually go about things? I've heard they email rejects and letter offers but I don't want to get excited if I see a letter just incase.

Ahh a fellow Robinson applicant! What are you applying for? Good luck!
Lot of crap southern/northern banter in this thread.

Boy you'll fit in perfectly at cambridge haha

They do! It's small but good but they do exhibit some forms of hot chocolate prejudice.

Ooh dear, what counts as hot chocolate prejudice??

Why would anyone pick St John's over Oxford?

Blair? Jesus...Gladstone is a pretty patrician choice though.

Valuing coffee/tea over hot chocolate in any way, e.g. higher price for hot chocolate, different presentation or longer preparation time.

They may have been dropped on their head when children.

Do you mean girls? Why would that be? I saw a meme on memebridge about the same thing. Why is it that everyone hates St. John's guys but apparently girls seem to dig them?

In case I'll have to reapply for 2018, I actually consider applying for St John's.
