Moving into halls this year- Living with a friend?

So me and my friend have both chosen the same university as our first choice. However, the uni is about 5/6 hours away from where we currently live and we're likely to be the only ones from our town going there. We both want to live in the same accommodation, is it likely that we would be put in the same flat? Since we're both from the same place or does it just happen randomly?
Don't know which university you're going to but at Nottingham accommodation when you apply they allow you to put a name of someone you would like to have in your flat. If you and your friend both do the same you've got a pretty good chance of living together, especially if you apply early.

Ah okay I'm sure they have the same system, if anything you can ring and enquire, I'm sure they won't mind helping you.
It's done fairly randomly so it's very unlikely you'd be placed together without making it happen yourselves. I think if you asked or requested to live together you'd have a good chance of being put together as it's not a complicated request. Although, just a thought - if you're in different flats you'll still be close enough that socialising is easy but it will mean you have twice as many chances to make a good set of friends.
