The ring always reminds me of the grudge

I'd say The Ring is better.

Some great recommendations already, I'll add these: (IMDB isn't letting my access my list ATM...)

-Scream 1 (been mentioned, first saw it years ago and it remains one of my favourites - don't spoil it for yourself though). I also like the second one...

-The SAW series (you'll like these if you like Cube - they're quite different though and more of a specialised taste, but you should like them if your into horror)

-Aliens (not strictly a horror movie, the original Alien is, but I actually prefer Aliens)

-The Thing (80's version)

-Jaws (technically classed as horror, but very tame by modern standards)

-The Ring (haven't seen it in many years, but I remember it being OK, apparently the original Ringu is better)

-The Mist

-28 Days Later

-Controversial one: The Blair Witch Project (I actually like it, but it's like Marmite, you might hate it)

Very good suggestions made by others, I envy the fact that you get to enjoy new horror movies for the first time, it gets harder and harder to find good ones the more you watch.

Thanks so much for making this so detailed. I've seen saw and scream. They're okay!! The ring was okay too. I'll check out the others

Scream 1 is one of my favourite horror movies ever. The franchise as a whole doesn't even come close. 2nd was decent though yeah. Exactly the same thing with the SAW franchise

1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre
A Nightmare on Elm Street (My favorite horror franchise of all time)
Scream 1
Chucky (Child's Play)
Wrong Turn
The Hills Have Eyes
Resident Evil
World War Z isn't a bad zombie movie

There are more morbid one's I could suggest but I wouldn't recommend them to be honest as they are quite traumatic.

HOW DID I FORGET ABOUT TEXAS CHAINSAW , that movie is the best! And world war Z is amaaaazinf

I've watched a zillion and 4 movies and I forget that sinister was a 10/10?? Yeah I agree. I was in the cinema watching it and many people left halfway through. It was so boring. Same thing with conjuring 2. They should've just left it at that

Yeah the first one was ruined by the second, I agree they should not have tried to extend it

Yeah. I love Craven's movies and Scream is probably my favourite horror movie, I've seen it so many times I know most of the script off by heart, actually thinking of Kevin Williamson (Scream writer) reminded me of another movie I like which I forgot to recommend:

-The Faculty (one of my favourite 90's horror movies, good fun is how I would describe it).

Also, this just popped into my head (if you can switch your brain off and don't mind watching something kind of dumb, but also quite creative)

-The Final Destination series (*gets shot by movie fans*) haha.

Maaaaan :p:
It Follows is an awesome mix of constant tension and 80s nostalgia. It's also, regardless of what sort of horror movie you like (it's not really for people who want constant jump scares), one of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever seen.
