Primary Education Interview at Northampton?

So...

I have an interview at Northampton uni for Primary Education with English specialism.

Part of the interview involves giving a 5-6 minute English presentation to demonstrate my knowledge and enthusiasm of the subject. I have to read a 250-300 word text (an extract from a novel, poem, play or piece of journalism are all appropriate genres providing they are of adult level comprehension)
After this, I have to go on to make two or three points relating to structure, character or theme etc.

Has anyone else had this interview?

How did you get on?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Eeeee I was excited at first but now I'm nervous!

Mine's next wednesday at 10am

Well, I was just going to read an extract from one of my personal favourite books. Turns out there's quite a bit to comment on in relation to theme and character.

I was reading on Northampton's website though that if you do a Science presentation you should relate it to Primary-age children in some way, if it was on healthy eating for example. I don't see our English presentation can be related to Primary school children, they don't study English in as much depth as you do at A-level :s-smilie: and the extract you choose has to be of adult level comprehension so I'm presuming you can't do a children's book!

Was talking to a friend earlier and she has to do this exact thing. I thought it sounded quite adult orientated considering its for Primary Education!

I agree.
It's what you would expect if you were going to do an English degree.
I suppose it's so they can assess our actual knowledge of English as a subject...

Hi Ellie, I hope your interview went well today!

I have an interview at Northampton on 3rd March with PE specialism - starting to get nervous already!

What did you think to the uni? Do you have any tips on how to prepare for the interview?

Thanks.

The maths test was HARD!
Then again, I've always been poor at Maths. I just wasn't expecting it to be quite so tough. I got a B at GCSE and struggled with it.

The English test wasn't so bad.

I personally really like the uni, I think it's hugely under-rated. It's very green, lots of rabbits
It's my local one too!

Its just got a friendly atmosphere, the facilities aren't the best in the world but at the same time it seems like a place you could get a lot from if that makes any sense? Haha
