The Student Room Group

Ex boyfriend

At the start of the summer I started going out with this boy, he was my first everything. We got on really well and I was comfortable around him. I think his family liked me but mine was the total opposite, mum kept saying don't be doing anything with him that you shouldn't and dad was really annoyed.
I think the fact they said that and also the peer pressure made me do alot of things with him I would later regret.

Towards the end of the summer he started saying things like, what'll wr do when school starts and what about our tests. I usually replied with it'll work out, but then at the end of the summer he finally said those words, I think it would be best to break up. I was extremely sad and a bit pissed off but he had a valid reason as he was going into his major year of GCSEs and i was starting mine. He was the year above me, but different schools.

So anyways after I came to terms with it, I just sort of tried to move on, which was hard since he was still in the back of my head somewhere. You can then imagine how humiliated and depressed I felt when i found out, his social life was busier than it had ever been, so much for having to focus on studies.

I then found out that he was now part of the popular group and was getting close with all the pretty, popular girls. I could never compete with them and it made me feel really insecure as I myself aren't extremely popular but not unsociable.

Any advice on how to get over him and move on, as i keep seeing all these pictures of him with people having the time of his life, while I'm here depressing myself even further.

Although it may seem it now GCSE's aren't much of a commitment, and are in fact rather simple and usually aren't a reason to break-up with someone. As harsh as it sounds, he was probably just using that as an excuse. It's very common for parents to not like their childrens partners, especially their daughters.

I'd say just carry on as you are, before long you will find someone else. Unfriend him or stop anything coming up in your news feed.

Yeah I guess your right but like I still sorta like him, it's acc so annoying. Blocked him on near everthing but still find away to see what he's doing, I'm legit nearly turning into a stalker
Jus find other things to focus on that are better for you. Guys will always come and go and if he's making a big deal out of GCSEs wait till college or even uni! Trust me boys are the least to worry about. Maybe go out with friends and make sure no one speaks of him. It's good you've blocked him so you won't see stuff and get annoyed. And don't compare yourself to other girls. Wer all special and the best thing for someone, just have to be patient enough for the right one to come along.
if he was ur first kiss - ok
If he was ur first everything after- you were way to easy no offence
Giving it in a summer means you are kinda easy
You should have had restraint
You're parents read him right
they always see it well because they see from a better point of view
it is alll on you for being crazy in love just in summer
but theres nothing you can do but find someone else or think psht he didnt deserve me it was a lucky break because it probably was i doubt he would be a serious boyfriend
but **** you are in GCSE? and giving it up
show more restraint my girl

Learn from the experience. Boys can talk a lot of rubbish. Dont take it too personal. It was a Summer romance so remember the good parts. Do well in your studies and when you get to uni, then you will meet a whole bunch of new people who you can have a fresh start with..

I don;t mean to make her feel worse just to make her be discouraged from making sily decisions
it works best

Give it a few months and you won't even care about him, give it a year and you will be laughing, we have all been there before in your situation and at first it's feels like you have had a kick to the gut. But time will pass, he may even come running back and you will realise that you don't even want him any more. Concentrate on your gcse, if you want to go to uni then do it. And when you are at uni, you will thank your lucky stars that your single, don't let him get you down. Xx

Wise words aha, i know i really should of shown more restraint but no joked i got the the mick taken outta me so bad for not having kissed someone. So then after i did that i suppose it just lead to other things. It sounds so bad not gonna lie, but after hearing about what all the other people my age did during the summer it didn't seem to as bad.
Thanks though

I didnt get the different schools bit, which is great. You might want to consider whether you arent torturing yourself with facebook etc. Its stating the obvious, but if you work really hard and start making yourself a good student then it will pay off. No idea how respectively bright you are, but maybe he will spend his time socialising whilst you ned up being smart and doing well in your studies. You are bound to meet others. Boys can be a bit changeable and unless you were getting married then it was going to end sometime anyway. Keep busy.
