Just going to jump into this conversation because I can relate. At one point I had 30+ universities on my list from all over the world. Spanning all continents other than Africa pretty much

@Michiyo has made really good points: choose the universities that you want to go to because often times parents are quite ignorant about this process because they focus on the prestige of the university rather than what is suitable for the student. You have to take initiative in this process! Michiyo has offered a good summary about Exeter's Flexible Combined Honours Degree and its merits, especially when you don't know what you want to do and you don't want to a complete liberal arts degree (American style system). Personally, I think that FCH offers a great system which combines the specialisation of the UK system while allowing you more flexibility in choosing more subjects that you want to take.

My advice for you is that if you don't really want to go to Oxford or Cambridge, you have to ask yourself if it is worth going through that arduous process... I applied this year and all the waiting, the interviews and more waiting was absolutely tiresome, and after all that effort you can still get rejected. Research the course (modules) and the tutorial system and decide whether that Oxbridge is worth going through all that trouble. (for me it was, but for many people I know it wasn't) Taster days will also be very helpful as well. If you have any questions about the process just ask, although I wasn't successful, I can try and help!

As for London unis, idk if you live in London (I think you do) but if you do accommodation and stuff do not apply as much so I guess I can skip talking about that

Now as for St Andrews, Time for me to give a Michiyo-style promotion of St Andrews because it is probably going to be my firm What I really like about St Andrews is that the Scottish system also allows for flexibility. In your first year (for you it is BSc because Maths and Physics) you choose 3 subjects to study in each semester, so for example, you can choose to do, Maths, Physics and maybe Comp Sci or a European Language. In the second year, you drop one of the subjects so the main subject which you got in for and a secondary subject which ever one you choose to continue. In the third and fourth years you can either choose to drop your second subject and just continue with your main subject for a single honours degree or continue both subjects for a joint honours degree. So this allows breadth of study especially when you don't know which field you would want to get into.

I guess one of the criticisms people have about Scotland in general is that the degrees are four years instead of three years but like Michiyo pointed out about Exeter(you can add a year for study abroad/work placement), in the third year of your time in St Andrews, you can study abroad at many great institutions worldwide. You can also have European work placements for science students but I do not know how that works unfortunately :/

Honestly, don't care about what your parents want you are an amazing chicken you can make your own decisions. I basically told my (asian) parents 2-3 weeks before the Oxbridge deadline that I didn't want to do medicine and I wanted to pursue something else. You can definitely choose the university/ course that is right for you If you have any questions about universities and such, just ask, I'll be happy to help

Because Exeter's Liberal Arts Degree only includes Arts, there isn't a Liberal Arts and Sciences Degree Plus they already have FCH, it would be kind of counter-productive/unnecessary for them to have a Liberal Arts and Sciences degree with FCH

To be fair, you might need physics to do an astronomy related degree because they seem to go hand in hand with each other maybe Astrophysics? @TheOtherSide.

I meant that their Liberal Arts degree does not include all the arts subjects (IR, for example).
