Manchester vs Bath vs Imperial Chemical Engineering??

Imperial is definitely one of the best university for Chemical Engineering, in fact for any Engineering discipline. There is a reason why the entry requirements are so high. I believe the general consensus would be to choose Imperial if you can reach those requirements.
Personally I would choose Bath over Manchester, if the costs are similar.
Bath has higher student satisfaction and graduate prospects; if those are important factors to your decision.

Cambridge have several bursaries available to international students

Cambridge bursaries for international undergrads are extremely competitive (i.e. there aren't very many), and can't be relied on as a funding source.

Also Cambridge internationals pay an additional college fee (typically £7k or so) over and above the higher international tuition fee (£25k).

Academically, there are good and bad points. Most of the lecturers are brilliant but there are a few lecturers who I feel just waste your time and are poor at communicating their point across. It's probably the same as with any university.

The booklets for each module are of a high quality and lecturers are always willing to explain concepts through the discussion boards or during their office hours so getting a help isn't a problem!

I would say, however, that the school can sometimes be quite disorganised, but that's to be expected with such large class sizes.

Hi, I'm in my senior year and am going to apply to Imperial and Manchester. There is the "Chemical Engineering" course and the "Chemical Engineering with a Year in Europe" in Manchester? Do you know about the fees that we need to pay during that year abroad if I were to choose to do the year abroad? Do we just need to pay the fees for that university we go to, or do we pay the tuition fees for Manchester? Is is possible to apply to do the year in europe during the first year there, if i don't apply to do it now?

Not sure about specific course but most "with a year abroad" will be able to be added later on, but it may be dependent on space and available partner universities so if you think you want to do it then apply because it's easier walking it back to a standard 3yr degree than trading up

I think I'm more worried about not being able to get in? just chem eng would be IBDP 37 points with 666 at HL, while the year abroad would need 38points and 766 at HL.

I'm a second year Chemical Engineering student at Bath so I thought I'd just give another opinion. As a general starter, I'd recommend taking a look at some league tables to get an idea of what each university is good for.

I'd say that Imperial probably has the best academic reputation of the three. However student satisfaction at Bath is higher, and having studied here I can really see why. The university is much smaller than the other two and so is more focused on its students. In general staff seem very willing to take time with their students, and so if you're struggling there's a lot of help on offer. Also the slightly smaller campus leads to a more friendly and communal atmosphere at the university.

As a student I've had a really fun time at Bath. I was slightly worried when I was applying that it might feel a bit small but I really wouldn't worry about this. There's plenty going on in town and the list of sports clubs and societies is at least as long as at other universities. Also Bristol is just a 15 minute train journey away!

Graduate prospects for the different universities are very similar. One slight advantage at Bath is the excellent placement scheme the university has set up. Over 60% of students do a placement, and the university is one of the best for linking you up with good companies. The experience gained from doing a good placement can set you apart from other candidates when applying for jobs after university.

It's VERY easy to transfer from the standard course to the one with a year in industry - both courses are virtually identical in the first two years, meaning there is no difference at all then for which course you pick. Manchester specifically states on their website that as long as you get over 60% in your first year you can transfer into the YINI course easily. I personally am following the same route - I got in for Chemical Engineering BEng (AAA offer) but after first year I'll transfer to the MEng + YINI (A*AA typical offer). I assume that equates pretty much to a 37 point and a 38 point gap that you're worried about. Best of luck!

I missed my offer by one grade and they let me in. Don't use that as an excuse for you to slack off but just in case things don't go to plan don't lose hope hahaha. Best of luck!
