Male vs female sexuality in society.

My question to you is why, in most cases, is male sexuality shamed, whereas female sexuality is praised.

My example is in media: Magic Mike and Fifty Shades - both are intended for women, and arguably gay men.

There are too many films intended for men that have been criticised.

I don't know, just a thought I've had today.

I think perhaps it is to do with that female sexuality was repressed for God knows how long, that it was believed women really did not have sexuality. And now we've been liberated, and everyone is celebrating it right, left and centre in movies and books.

I agree though, it should be on equal terms. Just because it is now commonly accepted that women have sexuality, it doesn't mean that men stop. No one should be shamed at all.
Does it really matter?

Adds nothing to this matter
Tabloid article and a one-trick internet celebrity, but the overall point is still quite fair: Shows like Loose Women are fun and 'empowered' when they talk about men and sex. A men's version of that same show would be shamed out of existence.

Blame the nonsense third wave feminism cult.
I'm loving these threads....Its no wonder the feminists in this forum are raging at me....and this i believe is just the calm before the storm lol

As for the topic of discussion in this thread:

We live in a society that hides and protects anything to do with female sexuality that is perceived as being shameful or weak whilst exposing and shaming men for their sexuality in every way. I mean, a man that consumes pornography is called a pervert whilst a woman that does this same thing is not. No, women who do such things are often celebrated as heroes. This way of thinking helps to promote the idea that 'men' are 'hornier' than women and this has a lot of negative connotations attached to it. Men as a result of this culture come out looking like they need women more than women need them and women as a result of this culture are not held to account for their sex crimes, as in their sex crimes are not believed or taken seriously.

What I dont like is the fact that a lot of women are indulging in this stuff but dont have the physical backbone to handle the consequences of it when it all goes wrong. Either your a vulnerable little **** or you arent, dont ****ing play with fire and then go run off crying to the police or social services. If your gonna drink and chase loose cock, have the moral backbone to face the consequences of it, or else clean up your act and serve the family/community properly.

.........and this thread has become a place where people whine about their preconcieved strawman of feminism.

This is from a few years back....its relevant to your comment i think....

Feminist Sharon Osbourne says that cutting off a man's penis is "quite fabulous" on a feminist woman's talk show in the USA, in support of a woman who poisoned her husband and cut off his penis before destroying it for wanting to leave her....Listen to the screams of women supporting and mocking the abuse in the background....imagine what would happen if the roles were reversed and this was a woman being mocked by men.....

To shine a pessimistic light I don't think feminism can ever exist. Not in an arrogant way but I'm an intelligent working class female and I have an acute mental illness, although there could be other factors to play in me getting ill, I'm not sure if I was maybe unconsciously rejected by my peers growing up could have played a factor in this as I've never been through truma or anything so it's hard to find a reason. Survival of the fittest. It's never talked about but I think women who like philosophy or engineering are always going to have a harder time in society, because realistically all hate aside they are less in number , and the minority always have a harder time.
To add I meant academic because I know there are a lot of different definitions of intelligence. I'm also NEET. So sorry about the pessimism at life and feminism. I just think working class girls who do routine occupations are the one hardest hit by gender inequality I mean even look at how were labeled, it's always working class girls your never even titled as a woman because your status is so low in society.

Spot on.

The feminist campaign is a basic cult now. Promoting women while denigrating men is absolutely fine, but men aren't allowed to do the same of women.

"Feminism is about equality." Haha.

+1

You know, a girl started this petition on change.org not long ago to have feminism classed as a terrorist group in the UK....it got 15 thousand signatures...The media reported on it and that lead to the girl's Facebook page being flooded with sexist comments against men. The Metro did an article supporting feminism and hating on the girl's petition....they made their own petition asking their readers whether feminism is terrorism....70% of their readers wound up voting yes!!...lol

Because man bad, woman good. That's how it works.

And the amount of stuff they get away with that would land men in serious trouble is insane. A woman can brag about sexually assaulting a man (or mutilating - see the Sharron Osbourne vid above) without condemnation or consequence. Women can objectify men in the same way men do women, but without being told off.

This brings us to the strange irony of modern feminism. Women can get away with these things because they're the powerless, harmless damsels and men are the ones with the responsibility. They say they want women and men to be equals, all the while maintaining these very traditionalist attitudes about women when it suits them.

I can sum this culture up in two words "Female Privilege"...

The more you think about life the more you realise how disadvantaged men are as compared to women in every way...We live in a misandric sexist world. The cure to this misandry, this sexism, i think, starts with unity amongst men and I think that we can achieve this unity by raising awareness about our collective suffering at the hands of society.

People, particularly men, are ignorant to what is going on around them. How many male students applying to medicine know that they are being actively discriminated against in the application process? Male students are being rejected for medicine in favour of female students who are of less merit than them to meet quotas. How many male students know this? I very much doubt that boys would stay silent to this sexism, this favourable treatment to women, if they new that it was going on. We need to raise awareness, inform men, sit back and watch them explode into a revolution.
