Burma ethnic cleansing its Muslim population gets minimal attention compared to Trump

It's funny how Trump banning immigration from a few muslim countries for 90 days gets mass attention but Myanmar ethnic cleansing its muslim population gets almost none. Where are the calls to cut trade with Burma, a country where many of our clothes and fabrics are made?

The calls to boycott the USA are so absurd I can only imagine that they must originate from the mouth of a child. Many of the countries we trade with, and where many of our goods are made, are guilty of awful human rights abuses. The Philippines has recently killed thousands of people in extra-judicial killings in a manic war on drugs, Indonesia still publicly endorses the 1965 genocide of millions of people, and the working conditions in many sweatshops in the afore mentioned nations and countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, India, and Bangladesh are utterly abysmal. Then of course there is China, again a place where working conditions are often hideously unethical, and a place with a terrible and continuously increasing record of appalling human rights abuses.

Boycotting trade with almost any country is extraordinarily stupid though, as it only creates more division (something I thought these people were against... One of the main reasons they find Trump to be so dangerous is because he created division between the USA and countries who's ideologies he considers to be poisonous. Now, because of this action, and because they find it to be ideologically poisonous, they are proposing we create similar division between his country and ours. Funny how that works isn't it?).

But anyway, going back to Burma; what's happening there is unbelievably awful, and it would be nice to see it at least mentioned on the front page of the BBC News site. I really think government sanctioned mass murder and rape is pretty important, more important even than Trump temporarily banning immigration from a few countries. It is worth remembering that there is a whole world out there which isn't the USA.

Sadly, many such things happen over the world and get no attention. It's even rarer to hear about the persecution of the Karen people, West Papuans, Sahrawi's and the Hazara people etc.. But it's good for people to at least try and highlight their problems.

There have been numerous trade embargoes and sanctions on Burma. Numerous countries have placed sanctions of Burma. Sanctions often don't work and tend to harm the people, like in North Korea for example. Kim Jong Un is still clearly eating well while his people starve. Anyway, Obama recently lifted sanctions on Burma, and I can't see Trump reversing that.

But anyway, going back to Burma; what's happening there is unbelievably awful, and it would be nice to see it at least mentioned on the front page of the BBC News site.

The Rohingya have made news within the BBC, but it often gets glossed over. It was in the news a lot during the boat crises in South East Asia where neighbouring countries were turning Rohingya refugees on boats away. There have even been accounts of Burmese government funded militias crossing over into Thailand and attacking Karen refugees camps in the past. Neighbouring countries like Thailnd should be doing more, but they are secretly complicit in this and the flood of refugees into Thailand helps supports one of the biggest slave trades in the world. Many Rohingya, Karen and other refugees from Burma often end up working as slaves in the Thai fishing industry.

But aren't the refugees the very same people who often are trying to escape from mass murder and rape?
