Dear all,

I am an EU student from Spain and I have been offered a place to do a taught MA at the University of Nottingham starting in September 2017. I would like to apply for the PG loan and I know I will be asked for proof of address when applying for it. The thing is that, even though I have been living in Spain since 2008, I have changed house many times, and so it is a bit hard to get the document from the city council. Is there another way to show proof of address? (for example, a document from the social security agency in Spain - I have a social security number and I have been working and also got benefits at some point -; my ID card shows my address as well). Anyway, I hope you can help me out.

Kind regards,

Romina

Hi. I was just wondering if I need to have a UK student bank account when applying for student finance as an EU student. Will I not be able to give my own information and then change it when I have set up a UK bank account, or do I have to set up a UK account before actually moving to the UK to start my course in September 2017?

As someone applying as a the child of a migrant worker, what evidence do I need to send?
Hello, I would like to know if as an EU student, can I get a maintenance loan as well as a tuition loan? I've been in London since October 2014 as an au pair and I started to work as a nanny in January 2016, my contract will finished in August 2016 but my current employer offered me a part-time job from September 2017 (25hours/week). Am I considered like a migrant worker? What I need to do to prove my statut ? What kind of documents do I need ? Best regard

If you hold a valid UK passport you can send in the original passport or include your passport details in your application form.

There is also a separate passport details form available on the gov.uk website in the student finance forms section if you have already submitted your application.

Have you got a question about what evidence you need to send us?

Jonathan has worked for Student Finance England for a year and specialises in answering queries for SFE and EU customers.

Please be aware all answers will be posted on Wednesday 8 February.

Hi

My name is André. Following the reply, I received yesterday from the forum entitled "Are you eligible for student finance?", I would like to ask what evidence shall I send when I will be doing my application for Fees Tuition Loan as well as Maintenance Costs as a Home student, as I was advised I was eligible to do. The reason of my question is as follows: When I rang Students Finance England I was told I could not apply as a Home student as I have been back in the UK for the last 2 years only and not 3 years. Then I rang the Student Finance Services Non UK Team to hear I should be able to apply as a Home student as I was born in the UK, my parents lived and worked here, my mother is a British passport holder, I lived here for 5 years, attended nursery here, I am a British passport holder, I am now studying in the UK, in my final BTEC year. I went abroad when I was 5, following my parents. We have keep contact with the UK, my parents have always maintained their bank account here and now they have decided to return and I came with them. Student Finance Services Non UK Team told me I should send proofs of the above. Could you please confirm what I am eligible for and advice on what are the evidences that may be necessary for the Student Finance England also agree with the above. Many thanks indeed. André F.

The information for anyone wanting to study a postgraduate loan in 17/18 has not been released at this time. This will be made available shortly. I would advise you to keep checking our postgraduate web page Gov.uk/postgraduateloan for any information.

As an EU student you will receive a tuition fee loan from ourselves which would be paid directly to your university. Some universities may be able to offer an EU bursary which would need a UK bank account open to be paid into.

To apply as the child of a migrant worker we will need your original ID, your parents original ID and your birth certificate to show the link between the two of you.

If your parent is employed we will need their contract of employment, a letter from their employer confirming the terms of their work and the hours they work, their last 3 months payslips and their latest p60.

If they are self employed we will need evidence they are registered with HMRC and are paying national insurance contributions, their last 3 months invoices and the corresponding bank statements and their latest tax return.

Providing you lived in the EU prior to October 2014 and intend to work throughout your course you should be eligible to apply as a migrant worker.

You will need to send us your original ID, a list of your last 3 years addresses, your contract of employment, a letter from your employer confirming your hours and the terms of your work, your last three months payslips and your latest p60.

Providing you moved with your parents to the EU you would be eligible to apply as a home student. As ID we will need a UK passport or your UK birth certificate.

We may ask you to provide a full breakdown of your address history from birth in order to confirm that you were at some point in your life settled in the UK.
