Trump represents the beginning of egotistical arrogance. Sadly, people like the person who wrote the article are precisely the reason Trump won, for two reasons. The author represents a growing group of people who shallowly come to and defend their bottom-line religiously; this represents the majority of the alt-right and left. The style in which the left and right delivers their rebuttals is in the form of insults - with the right being more brazen and the left adopting a bizarre method of insulting white working class people by using half-joke, sarcastic, patronising rhetoric. Secondly, the identity politics used to promote ideals like BLM, Feminism and immigration are naturally divisive. Intersectionality is utterly ridiculous; how do you bolster support using in-group mentality and then want to unite people based on those same recruitment tactics? If you say, 'black people need to stop being shot, men need to fix the pay gap and stop being misogynists, and white men are just privileged and need to listen to us', you are not going to be successful because the majority of voters are typically white and male. Trump is the result of these *****y tactics, and sadly, emotional, identity politics is replacing real leftist ideals.
