Student Societies

How do you join student societies? Does this happen in fresher's week?
There is a society fair at the end of freshers week where societies representatives all come to the student union and you go around stands and see what's on offer. There's also a refreshers fair in the first week of second semester, which gives you a chance to join new things halfway through the year.
However, I think that it's possible to join a society in the middle of the year too, you can go on their fb page and message one of the committee members to ask how to do it.

Also there'll be an app or a webpage or something which will list all activities during fresher's week - keep an eye out to see if the society you're interested in is running anything.
