Muslims currently at uni, what is your honest opinion of the culture?

I'm talking about more from a theological view i.e. what does the scripture say?

I think it's the same with all Abrahamic religions.
All religions, societies encouraged women to stay home until recently.

Is there a point in Muslim women studying if the man is meant to be the breadwinner?

This is not a rule within Islam, yes it is the husband obligation to provide for his wife and children but women are also permitted to work.

Also Muslim men really dislike it when their wife earns more than they do
I am not a Muslim but I don't get involved with the drinking.clubbing/having sex culture at uni. Obviously a lot of people do do that, but if you don't want to it is very easy to mind your own business and not do so. Most unis have an Islamic society which you could join which would be your best bet of finding like-minded friends.
To answer your last question, I would not be bothered if a practicing Muslim lived in my halls. I think most people wouldn't although there is always the chance of being unlikely and ending up with a bigot who doesn't like it.

Sexist, misogynist and insecure, then. Why would you want to marry one of them?

"Muh go and have fun"

What implication is that supposed to give me?

Football, Music, Dance, Cinema etc
I would be fine with a Muslim living in the same halls as me, as would any normal person. I prefer not to drink as well

Don't act like you wouldn't feel a bit weird if your wife was earning more than you. I think there is still a lot of pressure on men to be the main providers in a family.

Muslim men are not sexist or misogynistic... some are as are some non muslim men. You're being completely biased.

Within EVERY race, religion or culture you have faults within people, don't try to pretend non muslims are perfect, far far from it.

Ok good find. Except it shows that Muslims (Hapiness rating 7.33) are just 1.5% happier than those with "no religion" (7.22).
I'm "very happy" with that trade-off tbf. Ecstatic, even.
my flatmate is a practicing muslim but she is one of the most sociable people I know and has so many friends at university and she never feels pressure from anyone to do things because people tend to be very accomodating and understanding of this.

As a non muslim I do struggle with the amount of socialising that does involve going out and drinking, because as an earlier poster said a lot of society's activities do seem to involve regular drinking/clubbing which I get and can be really fun but it can be hard to avoid that at times. I'd also say going to a bigger university would help because of how diverse it will be with many others of practicing faiths. My uni has islamic soc as well which most bigger universities will do.

Women don't know what they want. As more rights were allotted to women in the West, they have become less happy. Unbelievable right?

So?

I'm talking about averages. I don't care about your anecdotal evidence.

Sigh, more anecdotal rubbish. Dude, if we are talking about averages - she is obviously correct.

The average man would not be happy if his wife earns more than him.

wut? Where's the anecdote in my post? They are your stats. 1.5% that's the difference, for a lifetime of religion.

Western society is a shocking place to live, isn't it?. One wonders why so many people want to come here and put up with it, and why so few westerners move to the paradise that is Moslem Asia.

Western society is by far superior to every other society (except maybe Japan). But that doesn't make modern Western society any less decadent. Widespread tolerance for homosexuality, mass migration usually happens when a society is on a decline. Look no further than Rome.

Read this for a better context: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6177860-the-fate-of-empires-and-search-for-survival

Also your mockery proves nothing. I post sources, you troll. That's the difference between me and you. These studies are coming from Western scholars, not out of Al Azhar.

And don't be so naive. People move to the West for economic reasons, not because they hate their own culture. If that was the case, then why is there an enormous problem with Muslims refusing to assimilate? And could you not make the same case for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE? There are hundreds of thousands of Western expats who have migrated to these countries? And I seriously doubt you believe that they move to Saudi Arabia for its "fantastic" culture.
