I haven't haha not yet anyway. I'm afraid of being seen as pushy? I would feel more comfortable doing that if we were past the deadline I guess

Have you applied to any other schools? I just applied for RCA

Yeah fair haha, I didn't know if there was an actual deadline, for the course I applied I was late apparently I guess that's why I got a response so soon. I haven't applied to others schools as its the only master I have found I really like, if I don't get in I'd rather get work experience.

Hi, I applied for Textile, mixed media pathway, and had my Skype interview today. I nearly threw up before the interview lol but they were pretty laid back and was more an informal chat than I thought! Wish I wasn't that nervous tho... So I will say don't worry too much! Just stick to your topic while answering the questions and it will be fine:smile:
Good luck everyone x

I feel like they are more interested in our plan after we got in or graduate from the school, such as what you wanna developing if you been offered the place in the RCA? What do you see yourself after two years? What will you do if you didn't got in? (disturbing question) and some questions about my portfolio, how will I be funding if I got the place and stuff. And they will let you ask them question too. The interview was about 15 mins, it was okay haha didn't notice at all cause I was too nervous lol

My application got in on time for the priority deadline so I should in theory only have until Friday to hear back, if i've been successful that is. Yeah its also the only one i applied for as well, similarly it was the only one that really sparked my interest. If I don't get in I'll just keep doing what I'm doing haha.
I'm international, and I heard back this morning at around 6am about an interview time in two weeks. If it makes anyone more hopeful I didn't think I had any chance for an interview. My reference/recommendation never went through to them.
I applied to Design Products. (:

Hello everyone, I'm so grateful there is a thread for 2017 applicants! I'm a UK student applying for MA Sculpture and had my interview last week! It's so nerve wracking waiting to hear whether we have been successful or not - does anyone know when we are supposed to hear back? Good luck to all!

someone posted that earlier its got all the dates  how was your interview?
I emailed RCA to ask whether rejected applicants will also be notified by the end of the week (I didn't give my student application number). This was their reply:

The deadline still stands for notification, but please be aware that due to the rate of admissions this deadline may extend slightly beyond the 17th. Either way you will hear shortly from the programme regarding the outcome of your application so please stand by.

Yeah.. one of my worries is that I applied last year as well, and I did not get in to architecture, but got an interview and an offer for interior design. I originally declined the place (as it isn't accredited by the RIBA and so I couldn't become an architect doing that course), sending in all the docs needed, and they didn't acknowledge it, sent me a few other emails and I ended up accepting the place and deferring it. I'm just a bit worried that the two might clash, even though you are allowed to apply to multiple courses.

Oh well, I can't do much about it now, just wait..

I couldn't see that being a problem but if I was you I'd call them to make sure. I don't understand why you sent in all the docs needed, if you wanted to decline the Interior Design place though.

docs needed for declining, so the acceptance form and I think there was another one. or maybe just the one.

i didn't want to call them, as i wanted to be judged purely based on my application and not necessarily draw attention to that detail. it is acknowledged in my personal statement though

i do have a tendency to stress out on such things
Hey everyone! I got an offer for MA in Print! I am an international student who graduated from an Australian programme (BA) in December 2016. I probably submitted in time for the priority deadline, which resulted in an early Skype interview and decision. I realised how nerve wrecking it was, especially when there was little to no information on the internet regarding the RCA interviews. Hence, I thought it would be helpful to share my (Skype) interview experience.

Interviewers & Atmosphere:
I was interviewed by a panel of three, two tutors and a student. I really really REALLY enjoyed my interview experience as they were smiling the whole time, I giggled a lot too. It was pretty laid back and not as intimidating as one would imagine (but of course, I mumbled a lot, I was very nervous after all).

Structure:
It was a 20-minute interview consisting of approx. 5 questions and a few Q&As.

Questions:
1) Why Printmaking at the RCA?
2) Describe your art practice.
3) Portfolio-related question.
4) Vision, personal goals & specialised interests.
5) Your character & personality i.e. will you fit in?

I happened to be interviewed by one of my art world heroines so I was ecstatic and acted like an idiot. Sure, they were there to challenge but by no means were they grim reapers. My advice would be: Be yourself, relax; be prepared, relax.

Good luck to you all!

Wow thats crazy they needed docs from you just to decline, really slows the process down for those on the waiting lists I bet.

The person you will speak to on the phone from the admissions team won't have any role in judging/helping/shaping your application. Take that from someone who used to work part time in admissions in a major uni in the UK and would be at the other end of the phone line... don't worry

They've sent me the invitation for a Skype interview this afternoon! I'm so excited! :h:
I read that if invited to the interview you have to bring a physical portfolio, but what about Skype interviews? Does anyone know how it works?
