Social aspect?

Hi, so Royal Holloway looks, visually, an amazing university but is located in the countryside. So how good is the social aspect?

Also I'm considering taking criminology and psychology so what about them departments at RHUL??

Thank you!
Hey UniApplicant2017!

I was a Royal Holloway student, and just graduated this summer. Though we are out in the country, we benefit from being on a gorgeous campus, which always has things going on. The sports clubs and societies on campus are always active, and are a really great way to meet new people. As I was studying film, I loved the opportunities the Film society offered, but I was also involved in others, such as Humans VS Zombies, which is essentially a week-long game of tag across campus. Sports clubs meet regularly for training, volunteering, and even socialising, so you can always find something to get involved with.

The campus itself also has a few bars on campus and loads of places to hang out (Imagine was definitely my favourite place to meet up with friends and play board games!). Aside from the twice-weekly Student's Union nights, there are also quiz nights and music events happening all year round - a sports bar and games venue where you can watch football, or play some pool. The Students' Union website has a calendar of events, which shows just how much is going on across campus from exercise classes, to society taster sessions, to evening events. We are also only a 40 minute train into Central London, so that is always an option!

In terms of Criminology and Psychology, the department is accredited by the British Psychological Society, meaning that graduates from this department have the chance to gain Graduate and/or Chartered Membership of the society. This department achieved an overall satisfaction rating of 92%, (Unistats) from students, and has great research and career links. Our Psychology Society is super active both in academic and social extracurricular activities. Is there anything about the course you wanted to know specifically?

Summer!

Is travelling between the campus and London quick?
I only ask because there doesn't appear to be much information online, but are there halal restaurants in the area, or on campus?
