Scholarship Question

Hey all! Throwing a shot in the dark... I got on Feb 24th my admittance letter for my M.St. and was wondering about the Ertegun scholarship, for which I applied. I read that some were proposed by their faculties for this scholarship, that some got already interviews at the end of February, but others just got the letters from their faculties, that the selection might be March 15th; the site says we should know by April and it says nothing of an interview. Basically it seems like the Ertegun scholarship is like a mythical monster. Getting a bit (understatement) anxious here and don't really want to send them an e-mail, so I thought might as well ask if anybody has more concrete information?
This isn't something I've come across before and it sounds specialist so you may not get responses on here. Your best bet is to email and find out especially if the website isn't very clear and you haven't been given any proper timelines. They may be working their way through faculty by faculty.

Hi, I'm wondering about this too, so if you do decide to send an email/have any news then please let me know  My department said they would let me know in the next few weeks if they hear anything about funding, but I don't know if that means the Ertegun.

Hi again. I could not help myself and sent an e-mail. The response was:

Successful candidates will be notified at the end of this week. I am afraid that due to the numbers of people that have applied for this Scholarship we are unable to contact the unsuccessful candidates.

Thanks for this, so that means tomorrow then presumably...another day of email checking

Yes indeed.... I guess tomorrow is the only day. I should be working hard on my thesis, but can't. I'm just waiting and hoping for an e-mail...

Hi Bogdan, is this email from the Ertegun? I have received an email from my faculty's graduate admissions stating that decisions are made by the end of April. Not sure what is going on here.

Hi! Well, kind of. I wrote to somebody at the Ertegun house and that was their answer. My hopes were not yet crushed by the lack of e-mails this past week )), so I wrote again to ask about my application. I'll keep you posted, though I hope your department is right. Related to the April deadline, I read online that the Clarendon will be announced early that month...

Hi, thanks for clarifying. Well, I have just come back from my faculty's postgraduate open day. I talked to one of the DGS's about the Ertegun. Unfortunately, I can confirm that 15 offers were sent out on Friday 17 March, and if anyone has not heard back by now, they have been unsuccessful. Only if somebody refuses to accept their offer will the people on the waiting list be notified, and based on what a previous Ertegun scholar once wrote, the awardees have two weeks to sign a contract. So, there is a chance after 31 March, but it is unlikely that people will refuse their offers.

Also, 15 April was mentioned as the 'cut-off' date for university wide funding, and I am assuming that this means all first choice Clarendon awardees will be notified by then, with replacement offers being made subsequently if needed.

Good luck Bogdan, and I am sad that things didn't work out for us with the Ertegun. Maybe someone will drop out (unlikely), or we will do better with the Clarendon.

Well.. that is too bad. Indeed, let's hope we get some financing! If you hear anything about the Clarendon, please let me know. By the way, for which programme did you apply?
