Official Edexcel History AS level Route C: Britain and Russia in revolution

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else in the country is actually doing this route? I'm really stressing about Britain, particularly economics and the Glorious revolution.

Does anyone have any tips on how to write the section C question?

Good luck for tomorrow!

How did everyone find it?

It wasn't too bad... The C part was nasty :frown:
First question was so annoying because the time range was so narrow.
Second one was okish. I mentioned the cloth trade and immigration with imperial expansion

LOVED the source question because me and my teacher did a plan on it yesterday.

I think Russia might save my grade.
First question was okay but time period way too limited! Second question was awful as I had not revised economics and had revised social so thus had to choose the poverty one and could only include poor laws and agriculture/population growth which was too limited so couldn't even form an essay! Section C was meh, can't really tell how it went tbh. But hopefully Russia will help boost my grade to a solid D.....lol!

I did it! Pretty pleased with the questions, the anti-Catholic sentiment one in section a was good (albeit a little weirdly worded) and the Imperial Expansion one was decent, I mentioned the role of agriculture and the role of London. Section C was ok, but the interpretations were a little limited...

I think it went alright for me as I revised Charles I a lot and part B was decent but I have nooo idea how part C went. I wrote a lot but whether or not it was correct is another thing tbh

for whoever did question 1 on the first section what kind of things did u include:

for financial problems i included: parliament refusing to grant him tonnage and poundage, need for finance because of attack on cadiz etc

and opposite side i included:
. charles personality- doing too much for ppl like Buckingham
. parliament trying to take away kings power
. anti Catholicism
and cant remember what else

question 2 i did the social questions

- vagrancy
-poor laws
-london drained resources in other areas so led to poverty
etc

and for the other side
- nobility, gentry mercahnts proffessioanls
as evidence to show some ppls wealth did increase
- wrote about agriculture and how that led to new crops and specialised farming so less poerty due to captal investment etc

does that sound about right>
Can anyone remember the exact worded questions for the paper?

But wasn't the question about his personal rule between 1629-40, and Buckingham died before it started

Yeah, that's why I didn't do the question - too short time period. If it had been 1625-42 or 49 I would've done it. Just didn't fancy just writing about personal rule, preferred the longer, 28-year time period in the other question.
Can anyone give some specific tips for writing answers in this topic? I try really hard but I only get up to 15/20 on these questions.

Stick to the criteria and the question like crazy. Use 3 examples per paragraph, always link them to the question. Try and link paragraphs together too, if you can.

That's really useful for me too - I'm not doing so well in history with Russia and Britain, but witchcraft is really fun. What I like to try and do is link Russia to Britain; for example we did a question on the Provisional Government in Russia, and I linked it to the Interregnum period in Britain due to the lack of experience both had. My history teacher encourages making links between the two, but not sure how many marks - if any - it gives.

What do you mean by 'criteria'?
