Big, big win for Mumbai, that. They made 180, rattling off the chase for the loss of six wickets after KKR had posted 178-7. Pandya claimed 3-24, removing Gambhir (caught by McCleneghan), Uthappa and Pathan - both caught by the other Pandya - as KKR relied on Pandey, who struck 81. Malinga posted 2-36, having Yadav and Woakes both caught by Pollard, while Narine was trapped in front by McCleneghan and Lynn by Bumrah for 32. In reply, Rajpoot claimed 3-37 - trapping Buttler in front for 28, having Pandya caught behind for 11 and Rana caught by Narine for a half-century. Narine himself chipped in with the wicket of Sharma, trapped in front, before Pollard fell to Woakes, caught by the sub fielder, and after Patel was trapped LBW by Kuldeep for 30.

KKR just didn't have enough with the ball or in the field. Pandya and Rana were brilliant at the death, and the night belonged to the Pandya's. Lynn strangled by left-arm spin, Krunal choking him, and he averages just 6 against that method of bowling, which means other sides will surely deploy the same technique.

Rana was good, and he walked in when Mumbai were 65 for 1, which quickly became 74 for 3 as Buttler and Sharma fell. He's a special talent (he ended the 2015-16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as the tournament's top six-hitter, with 21 in nine matches and clearly favours the leg side (125 (66.49%) of his have come that side). Mumbai were really, really clinical against the fuller balls.

Rana went from 29 off 23 to 50 off 28, and he and Hardik had scored at an impressive 17.57 runs an over and their stand took Mumbai from 119 for 5 in 16.1 overs to 160 for 6 by 18.3 overs. There have been some impressive partnerships this week: Gambhir and Lynn's unbeaten one, Maxwell and Miller putting on 79, and Smith and Rahane's 58.

@Mackay

even though this is a WWE question, how excited are you about the King of Strongstyle finally being on the main roster?

Oh, mate. So so stoked. That violin... that entrance... man, I just live him.
2/2 for Punjab. Great!

KXIP played so well, not much we could've done with AB de villiers
Watched both matches played so far
Really need to get studying though
I swear the one time KXIP are doing sick i have loads of exams

KKR next on Thursday
I am somewhat optimistic
I'm predicting a close match and either side could win tbf
But come on KXIP!!!
:bhangra:
Gotta play the Jhoom Punjabi song
Am expecting Gujarat Lions to come last this season as their bowling seems weak. If the batting performs consistently they may have a chance though.

I am not a huge fan of IPL, but as a Mumbai fan, I hope they do well. Although, I don't really see them winning this season.

Huge win for Punjab, who rattled off 150 for the loss of two wickets after RCB ended 148-4. ABDV returned and struck 89 off 46 balls, but Punjab won with 33 balls to spare, owing largely to RCB's failure with the bat elsewhere. Watson and Vinod made single figures, removed by Patel and Sandeep - via a Maxwell catch - respectively, before Aaron trapped Jadhav in front for 1 and Saha snaffled Mandeep for 28. Mandeep and Binny scored at less than a run a ball, but de Villiers faced 18 deliveries and scored 58 off them and helped RCB double their 15-over score of 71 and was the sole reason they got 148.

RCB were strangled in the powerplay. KXIP bowled 14 dots to Pune last time out during this period, and against RCB, Sandeep alone bowled 14. In all Kings XI sent down 22 dots, limiting RCB to 23 for 3; only four times in the past had RCB made a lower Powerplay score. Mills trapped Vohra in front for 34 during the chase, and Chahal clean bowled Patel, but Amla and Maxwell - 58 and 43 unbeaten respectively - got them over the line.

In the 2016 IPL, ABDV hit a four or a six every three balls on average after the 16th over - striking at 215. Today, he faced 16 balls in the last four overs, and hit seven sixes and a four. His strike rate of 219.34 is the highest in the last five overs of the IPL among batsmen to have faced a minimum of 50 balls. He has 1202 runs from 548 balls batting in the last five overs in the IPL. He scored only 3 off five deliveries from Patel today, but was unrelenting elsewhere: he scored 86 off 41 balls against the fast bowlers.

Much has been made of the decision to drop Gayle - but it was justified. ABDV started slow, but it was an incredible innings. RCB needed to maintain their bowling attack, so Stanlake, Mills, Chahal and Watson were must-picks, meaning a choice between ABDV and Gayle. They made the right choice to bat first, even though the fact the pitch in Indore is flat and the ground is small. The chasing team had won all three IPL games at this venue. But RCB bolstered their bowling and won their last game with the same tactic, so they continued in the same vein.

Axar started bowling for KXIP, and justifiably so, given the fact he has now dismissed Watson four times in just 24 balls. Using left-arm spinners vs RCB seems to be a decent tactic. Last time out, Nadeem's figures were 1 for 13 in four overs, and Axar only conceded 12 runs for a wicket in his four overs here. I do think RCB shot themselves in the foot with the ball. With a sub-par score, they needed early wickets, but it took until the sixth over for Tymal Mills to come into the attack, and he was taken out after one over, despite ending it with a wicket. Chahal didn't come on until the seventh over and did not bowl in the Powerplay.

Sandeep opened the bowling with Axar and bowled a stifling first spell of 3-0-7-1 during which he dismissed Vinod for 7. Once Axar dismissed Watson in the first over, AB de Villiers was the only batsman to collect a boundary in Sandeep's opening spell in which the medium-pacer bowled 14 dot balls. Sandeep has taken three wickets so far in two matches, conceding 59 runs in his eight overs at an economy rate of 7.37, the best among the Kings XI pacers who have played both their matches.

I'm rooting for Mumbai as always. Umpires decision on Sunday regarding rohit Sharma was horrendous

Pune vs Delhi tomorrow. Pune lost to Kings XI by 6 wickets, beat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets, and won both last year’s meetings between these two sides, while Dareveils lost to RCB by 15 runs last time out. Mathews joined the Daredevils squad for training on the eve of the match, but it isn't certain if he is available for selection. They are still patently missing De Kock and Duminy, but have recruited Hilfenhaus as a replacement, despite the seemingly endless list of bowling options available to them - Shami, Rabada, Ashwin and Jayant Yadav.

Pant’s innings vs RCB was exceptionally, but Tahir will be keen to prove a point against the team that did not play him much last season, and then released him. Their bowling needs to improve - Stokes struggled with the ball, Christian went for 24 in two overs and Dinda has had a difficult start to the season as well, which leaves Rising Pune with an unsettled attack.

Since winning five of their first seven matches last season, Delhi Daredevils have lost six of their last eight. Dhoni has made three single-digit scores in his last six innings for Rising Pune, including two innings of at least 10 balls where his strike rate was below 50. But Rahane averages 77.75 against Delhi Daredevils, with six fifties in 13 innings. They have only managed to dismiss him once inside a Powerplay. And mith has 32 runs off nine balls against Shahbaz Nadeem, his highest strike-rate against any bowler in the IPL. His strike rate against Amit Mishra, however, is 72 (18 off 25 balls), his lowest against any bowler in the IPL.

Pant has 11 runs from four innings when his team bats first in the IPL, as opposed to scores of 20, 69, 4*, 39*, 23, 32 and 57 when they chase. Tahir has taken five wickets in eight overs, with an economy of 7.12; all other Rising Pune bowlers have taken a combined six wickets in 31 overs, at an economy of 9.29. Karun Nair hasn't scored more than thirty in his 12 innings across formats after his Test triple-century against England.

Oh, and Lynn’s IPL future is in doubt owing to a shoulder injury.

Delhi Daredevils beat Pune, racking up 205 for 4 before skittling the chasers for 108.

Mishra posted 3-11, and Zaheer 3-20, as Delhi won by 97 runs. Dhoni snaffled Tare off Chahal for a five-ball duck, and Tahir clean bowled Billings for 24, but Samson struck a maiden T20 hundred before he was sent back by Zampa, and Morris struck 38 off just NINE balls after Pant was run out for 31. Dinda, Zampa and Ben Stokes were poor at the death, and it brought Daredevils 76 runs off their last four overs. It was the third-best last-four tally in the IPL, behind two RCB totals.

Daredevils scored 62 for 1 in the Powerplay - their best effort since scoring 64 against Deccan Chargers in May 2012 - ad it was always going to be tough for Pune, without Smith, and they eventually fell inside 16 overs. Mishra sent back Zampa for 5, with a Samson catch, and Bhatia and Dhoni for 16 and 11 (caught by Morris and Nair respectively). Zaheer had Rahane and Agarwal caught by Samson and Morris for 10 and 20, before Chahar was caught by Pant for 14, and Mishra caught Dinda off Cummins for single figures, and the same bowler sent back Stokes for 2, courtesy of Pant's hands. Pant also snaffled du Plessis off Nadeem for 8, and Nadeem caught Tripathi off Morris.

Pune were looking dangerous when Tare was dismissed, but Samson struck six boundaries off his first 14 balls to race to 31 inside the fifth over. This was Samson's longest innings in the IPL - 63 balls, going past the 60 off 48 he made when he last scored a fifty. Samson hadn't scored a T20 fifty in his last 15 innings - a streak that spanned nearly a year.

Mumbai Indians v Sunrisers Hyderabad tomorrow.

Sunrisers won both home and away against Mumbai last year - Warner scored an unbeaten 90 as they chased 143 in the first game, before they skittled Mumbai out for 92 in the next meeting. So, what does tomorrow hold? Mumbai beat KKR by four wickets but have lost to Pune by seven, while Sunrisers dismantled the Lions and RCB, by nine wickets and 35 runs respectively. Mustafizur has joined the Sunrisers squad and alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan and Ashish Nehra, may make up the strongest bowling attack in the IPL. Mumbai will be without Rayudu, who was stretchered off with a groin strain in their first match, but will be buoyed by Malinga (he has dismissed Shikhar Dhawan four times in the IPL - and Zaheer Khan and James Faulkner have also dismissed him four times), who returned in their win against KKR on Sunday, and the form of Rana, who scored 50 off 29 balls to spearhead Mumbai's chase of 179 after he was promoted to three.

At the Wankhede since 2016, the chasing team has lost only three out of 26 matches. The chasing team has won each of the last five IPL games at the venue. It'll be a key toss, with both captains wanting to chase: Warner has seven fifties in nine innings while chasing since the start of IPL 2016, including his unbeaten 76 against Gujarat, while Rohit has five fifties in seven innings while chasing during that same period.

Since the start of IPL 2015, six of Rohit's eight dismissals against spinners have been against legspinners and left-arm spinners. He might face Rashid and Bipul tomorrow. Mustafizur, Kumar, Nehra, Moises and Sran account for 75/88 Sunrisers wickets, and four of Rashid Khan's five wickets this season have been bowled or trapped in front. Four of those five wickets have come in the first ten overs of the innings. He has conceded 31 runs off five overs in that phase of the innings.

Excellent win for Mumbai, who beat Sunrisers by four wickets. They struck 159-6 in reply of 158, which Sunrisers made for the loss of eight wickets. Dhawan and Warner fell before the half-century mark, both for 49, with the former sent back by McCleneghan and the latter by Harbhajan via a Patel catch. Hooda was removed by the same bowler, who posted 2-23, with the help of a Pollard catch. Bumrah claimed 3-24 - sending back Cutting for 20, Ojha via a Pollard catch for 9, and Rashid caught and bowled for 2. Rana snaffled Shankar off Malinga for single figures, and Pandya struck to dismiss Yuvraj for 5.

Sunrisers, having Mustafizur and Rashid in their ranks, might have still felt they were in with a chance, but the lack of grip and turn off a dew-slicked pitch undermined their efforts. The chasing team has now won each of the last six IPL games at the Wankhede Stadium. At 81 for 0 in 10.1 overs, Sunrisers might have set their sights on a strong finish, but they lost 7 for 72, including four in the last three overs. In reply, the Indians flew out of the traps - Patel with a 24-ball 39, before he was caught by Kumar off Hooda, and Buttler with 14 off 11 before Nehra bowled him. Rashid trapped Sharma for single figures, before Kumar struck to send back Rana for 45, Pollard via a Dhawan catch for 11 and Pandya via Cutting's hands for 37 - as he ended with 3-21.

In the opening match, Mumbai went with an extra foreign bowler in Tim Southee to compliment McClenaghan. That meant they were forced to leave out Harbhajan, their most-experienced spinner, but today he earned two wickets and an economy of less than six. Prior to his second spell, Harbhajan's numbers read 2-0-10-0 and the 15 dots he bowled in his four-over spell are the most Harbhajan has bowled in an IPL match since 2015. He also dismissed Warner for the third time on Wednesday, the joint-most Warner has fallen to any bowler in the tournament and his 51 wickets in T20s at Wankhede are the most by an Indian bowler at a venue.

KKR vs KXIP tomorrow. The hosts lost to Mumbai Indians by four wickets but beat Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets, while Punjab beat both Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets, and Rising Pune Supergiant by six wickets. Last season, KKR won both matches - and Knight Riders have beaten Kings XI in all seven of their most recent matches in the IPL to set up a dominant 13-6 lead. The record is 6-2 in Kolkata.

KKR are without Lynn and while that is a loss, it could also mean that Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa are reunited at the top of the order. Their opening partnership has tallied more than 400 runs for three seasons straight. Umesh Yadav is back too and Shakib Al Hasan will make his way back into the playing XI. They also have Darren Bravo and Rovman Powell in the reserves. Most of the talk has been about how the venue has become a lot more seamer-friendly. If that is true, Colin de Grandhomme might get a game. Kings XI appear to have no injury worries. They might consider Ishant Sharma in place of Mohit Sharma.

The average score batting first at Eden Gardens in 2016 was 157, and five out of six night games were won by the team batting second. So, chasing seems the sensible thing to do. The odd one out were Kings XI, who fell short by seven runs. Miller averages 54 with a strike-rate of 147 in the second innings as opposed to 28 and 139 in the first, while Pathan averages 37 with a strike-rate of 153 in the second innings as opposed to 27 and 137 in the first. In 2016, Maxwell averaged 52 with a strike-rate of 162 batting second but those numbers fell off a cliff when he batted first: average 3.83, strike-rate 82. Saha may open. He has smashed Sunil Narine at a strike-rate of 144 and Piyush Chawla at 156. This could conceivably keep Maxwell and Miller from facing spin early in their innings. Maxwell has lost his wicket twice in 24 balls to Narine and three times in 25 balls to Chawla. Miller has only faced seven deliveries from Narine in the IPL. Among all the batsmen Sharma has bowled at least 30 balls to, Gambhir has the second-lowest strike-rate of 75.67 against him. Uthappa, though, has hit Sandeep for 51 runs in 38 balls losing his wicket only once.
Reply 91
KKR - 172-2 - beat KXIP, who achieved 170-9. Gambhir struck an unbeaten 70 to get them over the line, after Patel had caught Narine for 37 off Aaron, and bowled Uthappa for 26. It was the eighth win by a chasing side in 11 games this season. Gambhir racked up his 33rd IPL fifty, equalling David Warner's tally in the tournament. KKR have not lost an IPL game at the Eden Gardens while chasing since 2012.

Before that, Umesh had posted 4-33 after Kings XI had initially made a bright start with a 53-run opening stand between Hashim Amla and Manan Vohra, their second successive fifty-plus stand. They fell for 25 and 28, removed by de Grandhomme - via a Gambhir catch - and Chawla respectively, before Narine clean bowled Stoinis for 9 and Umesh claimed Maxwell for 25 (caught by Uthappa), Miller (caught by Pandey) for 28, Saha caught by Woakes for 25, and Patel, caught by Narine for a golden duck. Woakes claimed 2-30, removing Sharma - caught by Yadav for 10 - and Aaron for a duck, caught by Gambhir.

Kings XI raced away to 45 for 0 in the first four overs, forcing Gambhir to look at his slow-bowling options after he opened with the seamers and they proved expensive. The spin of Narine and Chawla swung the match, and stalled KXIP's momentum, and they lost three wickets in 27 balls in the middle overs, falling from 66 for 1 to 98 for 4. KKR, like Melbourne Renegades and Lahore Qalandars, promoted Narine to open the chase. Of all bowlers who have bowled 50 balls or more in the IPL, Narine has the best economy at the Eden Gardens - before today's game, he went at 6.17 per over. This was the first time Narine won a Man-of-the-Match award in the IPL since 2014.

Gujarat Lions v Rising Pune Supergiant tomorrow. Lions won both matches last season but have lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 9 wickets, and lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by ten wickets. Pune lost to Delhi Daredevils, and lost to Kings XI Punjab, but beat Mumbai Indians. Jadeja is back but the Lions will continue to miss the injured Dwayne Bravo and their overseas combination is set to be revamped, with either Tye or Faulkner deployed to beef up a bowling attack that has picked up only one wicket in two matches. For Pune, Smith has recovered and Tiwary, who also missed the last game following his father's death, has re-joined the squad.

It was Khan who did the damage last time out when he struck in his first over to trap McCullum in front, and went on to dismiss Finch and Raina respectively in identical fashion in each of his next two overs. Obviously, Gujarat missed Jadeja, but full credit to Rashid: he has the advantage of spinning the ball both ways and he has a shorter frame and that allows him to maintain a flatter trajectory without even trying. He bowls flat and fast, which makes the ball skid off the surface and that makes it tougher for batsmen to use their feet and it's also tougher to get under him. Smith has struck only 34 runs with two fours off the 39 balls he has faced against Jadeja in the IPL. He has also fallen to Jadeja four times in eight innings. No other bowler has dismissed Smith more than twice.

Elsewhere, Kohli says he’s fit and firing and will return for RCB vs Mumbai tomorrow. Kohili had 973 runs at an average of 81.08 and a strike rate of 152.03 last year, RCB will also have to make another choice between specialist wicketkeeper Vishnu Vinod, who had been signed as KL Rahul's replacement, and part-time wicketkeeper Kedar Jadhav. Mumbai Indians, bowling first on both occasions on chasing-friendly grounds, won both games last season. RCB lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs, beat Delhi Daredevils by 15 runs, lost to Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets, while Mumbai lost to Rising Pune Supergiant by seven wickets, beat Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets, beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four wickets.

Since Malinga's return from international duty, only Ambati Rayudu's absence does not let them be a full-strength side. Their headache is the form of fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan, who has conceded 129 runs and taken three wickets in three games this season. In a like-for-like replacement, Mumbai may bring in Southee for McClenaghan.

Will RCB field Gayle? Gayle's weakness against right-arm spinners has been accentuated in the IPL. He has scored 771 runs in 574 balls in the IPL, at a strike rate of 134, and has been dismissed 19 times in 56 innings in which he has faced right-arm spinners. Against Harbhajan Singh, Gayle has scored just 65 runs in 65 balls in the IPL, with three dismissals. Using left-arm spin to limit damage against ABDV seems a reasonablye tactic, too. Against left-arm spinners, de Villiers has scored 448 runs in 330 balls, at a strike rate of 135.75. He has also been dismissed nine times in 46 innings. Who can Mumbai use? Pandya has conceded just seven runs in 10 balls against de Villiers. Krunal dismissed him twice in the last season. Likewise, RCB have been Malinga's only nemesis in the IPL. He has taken just 13 wickets against RCB at an an average of 36 - his worst average against any team in the IPL. At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Malinga has taken 5 wickets in 20 overs, at an average of 31.80 and an economy rate of 7.95, his worst at any venue where he's bowled at least 20 overs. Malinga v de Villiers? De Villiers has scored 71 runs in 42 balls against Malinga without being dismissed. Malinga has a T20 economy rate of 6.74, compared to 10.14 against de Villiers. In the 2016 IPL, Kohli had a single: dot ball ratio of 1.58 (291 singles: 184 dot balls). By contrast, Gayle had a single:dot ball ratio of 0.322 (29 singles: 90 dot balls).

Just another word on Samson's innings earlier this week: I'm chuffed for him, to be honest.

He was bought by the Daredevils in 2016, and despite playing all 14 matches last season, he was dismissed for less than 20 seven times and finished with a SR of 112. But his innings with Billings the other night was exceptional and even more impressive given his poor domestic campaign. It was a tough period for him (he averaged 30.36 from 11 innings for Kerala and was pulled up for disciplinary issues by the state association after he allegedly left the team in the middle of a match, after being dismissed for a duck, and did not return until 8 or 9 pm).

Samson and Billings scored at a rate of 9.85 in the seven overs they batted together. Billings fell in the ninth over for a 17-ball 24, while Samson departed after amassing a 63-ball 102. Samson scored 31 off the first 14 deliveries he faced as Delhi managed 62 for 1 in the Powerplay, which is their best effort since scoring 64 against Hyderabad in 2012, allowing Morris to smash an unbeaten 38 off just nine balls to help Delhi post 205.

We still lost... Only RCB can manage to get a team down to 7-4 and then lose the match.

While other teams look for ways to win, they look for aways to lose. I'm so annoyed :cry2:
