Dissertation - discussion section

Hi guys, what exactly goes into the discussion part of the dissertation as I've been told different things!
Is it just talking about the results& how they differ from other research?
Strength and area for improvement
And then also future recommendations?
Thanks

You discuss your results in full detail with relation to your hypothesis or your research topic. You should compare results to existing results if possible.

Some things to consider:

Summary of your results

Inspection of your results in relation to existing research

State how important your findings are

An explanation of the results, make sure you state what doesn't support your hypothesis

Limitations of the study

Mention any generalisations you can draw from the results

Implications or practical applications of the study

Recommendations on future improvements

Here are several resources from different unis that you can use as a guidance.

Thank you so much for that!

I don't direct you in the wrong direction but I think it means drawing conclusion from your results and relate it to your study area. its best to clarify with your university as I assume different universities will have they own meanings and expectations.
