is it good to base revision on topics that didnt come up for previous exams?

Yes and no. I would base it solely on last years AS exam and the specimen papers only though as it's new spec from 2015 (2016 being the first new AS exams) in addition look at really old questions and answer them as they could possibly come up. My teacher who is a part of the chief examiners for AQA has advised us to make sure we know each explanation inside and out as questions from AQA are becoming trickier and what they are asking isn't alway direct to what we learn in class. I'm currently A2 so if you need anymore help with AS feel free to ask

Technically yes, but there was a new specification where last year was the first paper, so there's realistically the chance of anything coming up in psychology this year (which doesn't help me either as I'm doing A2 this year). Unfortunately, you will just have to revise everything. I believe last year's 12 marker in social influence was Asch and either the WMM or MSM came up as a high marker in memory and I think the strange situation in attachment.
