Hard to see liberals and left-wing folk voting for Thatcherite Fillon if he was up against Le Pen. I reckon we'll see some character assassination on Macron soon enough to discredit him and stop him reaching the 2nd round. He would trounce Le Pen.

Chirac was much more people-friendly than Fillon. I think that most in the left would prefer to abstain than vote for him.
The last poll for the second round gives Fillon 56% - Le Pen 44%, whilst Macron would have a much more comfortable lead.
