Doonesbury, do you suggest taking a break now and again (as in a whole day off) despite exams being so close? I am debating on whether or not to do anything today, or to just have a day off and play video games. I do revise quite a lot, up to 12 hours a day, but I feel like I am not going to get through the content in time (despite being ahead of most of my friends and revising more thoroughly than some of them). I do kind of want to do some history though. Ah!

I've taken half a day off today and I swear it's done me the world of good - my highest ever score on a chem exam paper (into the high 70% range). I watched an entire Steps concert courtesy of YouTube today ( was obsessed with them when I was like 2 but then they broke up just after my 3rd birthday) and have ended up dancing around my room 😂😂 but, for the first time in ages, I've been smiling because I'm genuinely happy 😀😀😀

Aw yay! I'm so glad to hear it :biggrin:

I've been playing Sims 3 all day. I built an amazing house for a family in my town, and as soon as I finished it my game crashed before I could save. :frown:

Yes, it counts as school-related work :wink:

You should have an entirely free day every now and again. No serious thinking about school / university / TSR.

That's so annoying! And that's why when I do play sims I just save like every 10 minutes

Actually woke up at 8:30 and had a walk until 10:30 through the countryside, then breakfast. :biggrin:

Now going to do homework (which I shall also count as revision?) (it's all very practise question/quotation bank/consolidation based)

I spent 4 hours playing video games yesterday and I'm sleeping over at a friend's house next weekend so :redface:

Still battling with the feeling of having to put in every hour possible

I am invited to a friends house next weekend I don't really do sleepovers, I'm more of an introvert and such like. I'm mainly going because she's a new friend, who has been very kind and just a great person to have around, but I've known for a relatively short time and I feel like if I go I can form a stronger bond etc. I feel really guilty about going now, since it means I'll have less time to revise. My other friends are telling me to go, plus she's booked time off work just to spend with me. I just really want those Cam grades and I feel like I need to be doing more revision and less socialisation :frown:

Go have fun for a weekend. Chilling out for a couple of days will probably help more with exams than an extra 10 hours of revision on top of the hundreds you're already doing.

I'm exactly the same, I think every second counts. I wouldn't feel too guilty, it will do you good to have a break from school work. You could always do some extra revision tomorrow with it being a bank holiday so no school if you're really worried?? If we work too hard we will burn out before the end of the exam season and none of us will be in Cambridge in october

You also need to average your mark across all the papers. You don't need an A* in each paper, just an A* across the subject. One "bad" paper may not be a major issue, and if you find a paper hard you get bet your bottom dollar so will everyone else.

Very true. It happened to me in chemistry last year. Nightmare paper but everybody was in the same boat. When it happens keep calm and just "make the best of it".

Lots on this thread seem to be in overkill re revision. It's really not necessary. Time off for hobbies/ mates is essential. Have faith, if you're meant to get the A* you will😜
