Why is America bashing so popular among the Brits?

Its completely unjustified, I mean these people are practically identical to us by blood and language. Is it just yet another symptom of a lowest common denominator society; one fully committed to a moral race to the bottom. Very typical of left wing comedians who dominate popular culture to make snide jabs at the US.

Surely the American tendency for national pride, christian values, family, neighbourhood and free enterprise are all values to aspire to. Better that than artificial equality between people who are of a totally different race, gender or religion.

The United States, for all its problems is still a great country. I've met a good few Americans over the years. Most were polite, courteous and friendly. There's an expression I heard on the news the other day in regards to what the US Government call their closest allies, and I don't mean France ! It included the UK, Australia, Canada and possibly New Zealand too. English speaking countries anyway. I think there will always be that closeness there. Personally I feel I probably have more in common with an Australian or a Canadian than I ever would with someone from Poland or Portugal.

It's in our nature to show affection by poking fun at people/things. The only ones who don't get that treatment are the ones that are irrelevant.

Exactly. It's actually a very Australian mentality - if you're not absolutely ripping the **** out of someone, then they're not a real friend.

There are an awful lot of white lefties who will show solidarity towards 3rd nations just because they are poor.

See, I can make random statements that have **** all to do with the conversation too.
Most of it is just sneering from pompous Brits who think for no justified reason that they are superior to Americans, based on an over-indulging love of their own accent. Brits seem to think their accent is the best in the world. No other country loves their own accent so much. Many Brits need to get off their high horse. It was them who won the war, not us.

All of those values, to the extent that the US has them, are all worthy of being made fun of.

Well they are generally full of themselves and their glorious nation. A lot of Americans can't even name more than 5 European countries as they are so inside their own bubble. Literally 50% of them are dumb as a donkey. For instance, almost 50% of them still think that the Earth is only 10 000 years old.

Patriotism and Christianity vs equality and tolerance? Hmm....


I think there is also an element of superiority, especially with regard to the fact that the U.S. lags behind the rest of the developed world in many aspects (healthcare, religion, education/geography etc).

You dont attain the economic and cultural success they have by being stupid. I suppose many Americans remain in their bubble for fear of coming across as an imperialist :confused:

Considering Donald Trump is forcing Mexico to build a wall so that they can't cross into America, it's a bit daft to say that Americans and Brits are the same! We wouldn't do that to Wales or Scotland!

After North Korea being in the news so much in America people asked Americans if they could point out Korea on a map, only 36% got it right and more than 6 people pointed to Australia

The Welsh and Scots are racially different from Brits, yet we treat them the same, we don't tell them to,build a wall separating our countries because we respect them, whereas it's obvious that you don't
