Calculating dipole moment?

Hi!

I need to calculate the electric dipole (in Debye) for a sodium ion (Na+) and chloride ion (Cl–) having an internuclear distance of 2.82 Å.I know the answer is 13.54 Debyes using μ = q x r

However, if the charges were difference, lets say Mg2+ and Cl-, would the elementary charge be multiplied by 2?

thnx
