Should you vote "Just for the sake of it"

This years election has come with hundreds of campaigns aimed at people who dont usually vote encouraging them to vote.

Do you believe that people should just vote for a party for the sake of it even if they are not sure who to vote for and have not done any research?

Im of the opinion that unless you have thoroughly researched party's and what they are planning to do then you should not vote.Unless you are certain that the party you are voting for is actually the party you want to vote for which you have researched, then voting for the sake of it is a waste of time and pointless?

What does everyone think?

That would probably eliminate more than two thirds of the voting population

I think the point behind encouraging young people to vote isn't just to get them to vote for the sake of it, but to get them interested into politics and manifestos and then vote.

I don't expect people to read the full manifestos but I think reading at least the summaries and knowing the basics of what each parties want should be an informed decision. Most young people know whether they're socialist or more traditional usually based on what their parents are

It's becoming increasingly popular of young people to be more left wing, I honestly think if most young people voted in G.E 2015 and EU referendum then we wouldn't have had Tories and Brexit

They need to have much more easily readable things, the other day i was trying to read a manifesto and it was a load of ********. Can they just write what they mean and move on

Potentially. Yeah i agree lots of young people vote for who there parents have traditionally voted for. Im not overly sure why so many young people nowadays are left wing, they also seem to be all super PC. Im not sure why this is the trend .

Yeah i agree for lots of young people it can be quiet overwhelming and sometimes hard to interpret what they are actually trying to portray.

Registration for voting should also be 'opt out' in my opinion

People have to manually opt in and register to vote at the moment. I think people should already be registered to vote by the government or coucil when they turn 18 but if they don't want to vote then they can manually opt out

Yeah. I can imagine that lots of young people can not be bothered with the admin involved in registering to vote.

Whats your opinion on lowering the voting age to 16. Personally im against it for a number of reasons.

Voting at 16 is a no no. You'll only hear the posh private school kids banging on about how they are/were mature enough to cast an informed vote at that stage, but let's be honest most 16 year olds haven't got a clue whats going on. Heck, most 18-24 year olds haven't got a clue what's going on let alone 16 year olds
