Is the density of water exactly 1g/cm³? or is it the approximate value?
Why is the density of ice lesser than the density of water?

The density of ice is lesser because when water freezes to form ice, rather than moving closer, the particles move away, making mass per volume lower. I'm not sure about the density value tho,
