How do we know when to use superposition or interference in answers relating to waves ? And what's the difference between superposition and interference ?

Superposition is when 2 waves of the same type meet at a point to give their resultant displacement. When 2 waves in phase meet, constructive superposition occurs giving a maximum amplitude. When 2 waves in antiphase meet, destructive superposition occurs giving zero amplitude.

Interference is just a pattern which occurs when coherent waves superpose.
At maximum amplitude=constructive interference
At zero amplitude=destructive interference
