Just me who's infinitely more nervous as they open an exam paper that last year?

After like 10 minutes I'm fine, but I spend *so* long thinking about the first question, which isn't great when there's only a few questions in total, as they're each worth a lot of marks (essay subjects fml)
Having this offer seems to make me do worse rather than better tbh - at least I have one of my essay subjects out the way I guess. It's nowhere near as big an issue in my science subject, as it starts off with multiple choice

I get where you are coming from. I feel like I would have been much better under the old system because if I did well at AS I would just feel more confident having something put away to fall back on? I've had my first exam today and I am still nervous as hell about how I did. :frown:

Being honest I feel the exact same, although I'm more resigned than anything else. In fact I think I might be lucky to make my insurance

The one I've done for maths I was actually more chilled than two exams I did last year, but the fact I already feel physically sick about bio on Monday and chem on tues worries me slightly....

Same. I think because I'm not just trying to do my best, I have to reach a baseline.

A bunch of like good ideas have just entered my head for like my exam this morning and I'm panicking. Hope the examiners account for exam nerves and new spec nerves and aren't overly harsh. :lol:

In the terms we're talking about, nothing has changed - the exams have always been norm referenced, and so no-one has been able with certainly (or sometimes even accuracy) to predict the raw marks required for each grade boundary. However, the old exams obviously had a wealth of data from previous years, from which predictions could be made (and the boards even provide a tool so teachers can 'mark' mocks more accurately). However, the new specifications and new teaching means this previous data is really not applicable to this cohort - who knows what raw marks are required?!

Did you not like the paper? I thought it was quite good myself, smashed the changing role of parliament.

No I liked the paper I just have the confidence of a flea and I think I messed the interpretations up but I aske me teacher if what I did was okay and they said it sounded fine. But now I'm second guessing myself

I just don't think I've done well enough for an A* but the essays were okay (smashed Cloth trade lol)

II defo done better than paper I but dunno boundaries might be a ****. We shall see tomorrow. Not too nervous about III I reckon I can make the 1 on that.

Anyone do OCR Biology today?

Or Edexcel Unit 3B Politics?

thoughts on either? I'd rate myself at best a 7/10 for Biology (seemingly a difficult paper though, so i'm OK with it - laughable that ppl are making petitions though) - Politics was v good for me

I did politics 3B. It was meh, knew everything and got it all down, but my points weren't structured all too well. Felt a bit waffley. Picked 2 conservatism + anarchism 15 m and socialism 45m.

Detail > standard of English so I wouldn't worry too much.

I always aim for 12/15 for fifteen markers (or the equivalent for the 45 markers) because this will normally get you to the A* boundary

I'm much less confident with 4B, though at least I have about a week to revise it. If it's a nationalism 45 marker, i'll be fine as I find it to be by far the easiest of all the ideologies in both units. But multiculturalism and ecologism (i'm not revising fem) are so abstract and we've learnt them more recently, so they're less solidified in my mind that the "core" ones like Liberalism and Conservatism
