Spanish a2 (aqa) 2017

Agreed. People who are spanish take spanish in my school because it is easy for them. I've had to work really hard in spanish and i'm still predicted a C merely because the boundaries are so high. At the end of the day guys, we've learnt a new language that we can apply to the world. I'm going on holiday to Spain and I can't wait to try it out. THAT'S what we should be looking forward to and enjoying. But I do get it..uni and all :/

Yeah, I understand that people who are fluent in Spanish would take it because it's easy for them and I'm not blaming them at all, especially as they learned English too, but I really think exam boards should note that it's unfair to make the grade boundaries so high because so many people work super hard and can't get a top grade because of it; I assume many of the A* grades are taken up by Spanish people. I think something like 80-85/110 should be an A. Also, some of the words in this paper were ridiculous, like how is anyone supposed to know what 'azafatas' means? I think I got it right but it was a pure guess.

You're right though, it's so useful to know another language, I go to Spain sometimes so it feels good to be able to understand (some of) what they're saying! I'd just like to get into uni too haha

I completely agree. It was really off putting and wrong. I completely forgot my space vocab and said Roqueta (which means Rocket.... But as in the salad rocket) and astranatas instead of astranautas (space nuts basically) SAVE ME!!!

There was an article in the news a couple months ago saying that this year exam boards are taking into account that native speakers are much more likely to get A and A*s so they're going to lower grade boundaries to make it easier for non-native speakers!!!

how much did people write for the essay? I did pans labyrinth and wrote 5 sides, dont know how much is a good amount

I did laberinto essay and I can't really remmber exactly how many sides but didn't write nowhere near as much as I'd like. Did you do the inspiración question or the one on emociones fuertes

Obviously native speakers have the advantage of knowing vocab a heck of a lot easier than us lot who have to spend hours every week learning it. However, my personal claim to fame is that I did better than the Spanish guy in my class on the essay last year and sometimes I even do better than him on translations There's more to language learning in terms of grammar that you don't learn for your mother tongue. However, you make a good point about grade boundaries- I hadn't really thought about a lot of the A*s being taken up by native speakers. I'm predicted an A* in Spanish and whilst that paper was tough, I'm still holding onto some hope that I might get it.

Also, people keep talking about that underline the word sentence and doing 'colegios' to 'institutos'. What was the full sentence? I definitely didn't underline 'colegios' but I'm pretty sure I got it right, I just can't remember the sentence.

For question 2, I got DBBBDC - I know it's dodgy that I didn't get any As but I thought for the first question they said that the kids who do crimes are getting younger?
