My available balance isn't changing?

Hey!

I'm with Halifax and I've made a few transactions recently instores like Tesco & Lidl and normally they appear straightaway or take effect on my available balance.

I had £231.90 as my available balance & I spent £3.80 at Tesco but my available balance didn't go down, I assumed it would take effect later on the day but it hasn't. I've also spent £6 at Lidl which which didn't affect my available balance as well?

Is this just something wrong with the bank? The app? Or have I been rewarded with some funds idk lmao

Sometimes card payments can take a couple days to process.

Go to your transactions, it will be there under pending

Contactless payments won't show as pending transactions, and as such won't reflect in your available balance. They'll appear on your statement in a few days.

It does explain this at the side of internet banking.

My account balance and available balance still stays £231.90 however based on my recent transactions it should be around £222 or so. If I spent let say £227 then would my card get declined?

Probably not, but it could start an informal overdraft which you would be charged for.

No, it wouldn't get declined, but when the pending payments post to your account, you'll go overdrawn, which when unauthorised carries hefty fees.
