S1, A*?
I'm registering for S1 in A2, and had given M1 for AS. How can I find the grabe boundary for S1, A*? Or if I can't, can please anyone give me an approximation?

I'm guessing you're doing the modular a level In which case you should be aware there is no such thing as A* in maths modules. To get an overall A* you need to average 80% across C1, C2, S1 and M1 (AS topics) and average 90% across C3 & C4.
You can get 100ums in everything but average 89ums in C3 & C4 and you wouldn't get an A*

Yes, you can. The average of 100 and 89 is 94.5 which is enough for an A*. You wouldn't get an A* if you got 79 or fewer UMS marks in C3 whilst getting 100% in every other module.

You can't get an A* in S1 ... the top grade awarded is an A because it's an AS module not an A2 module.
C3 and C4 are the only A2 modules so they're the only modules you can get an A* for x

That is not quite accurate. You need at least 480 UMS overall and at least 180 from C3 and C4. - that means anything more than 300/400 (75%) in C1, C2 and the applied units is wasted effort as far as the A* goes.

The A2 is not a qualification in its own right. You are entered for AS Maths and A level Maths. The AS will be calculated on C1, C2 and the better of S1 and M1 and the A level will be calculated on all 6 units.
As others have said, the A* boundary is not quoted for units and S1 only affects the overall grade in terms of the UMS contribution it makes to the need to get 480 UMS overall.
But you also need an a in as level so 240 avg across c1 c2 and an applied module.

What for? You don't need an A at AS to get an A* overall. Theoretically you could get a C and still get an A* overall.

No you don't.
Your UMS must total at least 480 and [C3 + C4] must total at least180.
I've known students who got a B at AS get an A* ...
C1 75
C2 75
S1 75
C3 95
C4 85
M1 75
Total = 480
C3 + C4 = 180 ie A*
C1 100
C2 100
S1 100
C3 90
C4 89
M1 100
Total = 579
C3 + C4 = 179 ie an A
Oh okay i must have misinterpreted the grading the document that lines all this out.

They’re classed as A2 units so I’m not entirely sure… I think it would just be 80 UMS since they only ask for an average of 90 between C3 & C4

No. It is really straightforward. The only criteria you need to satisfy are:
•
At least 480 UMS overall.
•
At least 180 UMS from C3 and C4.
Nothing else matters.

You’re right, simply put including C3 and C4 you need to get the total UMS for an A grade (480), if C3 and C4 contribute at least 180UMS to the 480 then you get the A*

The fact s2 and m2 are a2 units only matters for further maths.
