how is it at all wrong to watch porn?

I'm curious I was looking at something yesterday someone was trying to shame men who watch porn or say that porn degrades women? But what I don't get is don't women and men watch porn? I thought porn was like masturbation etc... I mean I thought it was only natural to like watch. I am actually a virgin and in my mid to early 20's by choice. But have always watched porn since I was 15 and the porn I watched never had women in it to begin with it. So I don't see how it degrades women? Also does porn degrade men too then? Especially men on men porn? I remember when I was younger than 15 I still managed to find a way to find pornographic material. as young as 13 I believe. I don't see how one would say though it's terrible to be one who watches porn? And how is porn wrong for women or men?those who watch or those who make it for that matter?

You're right in that it degrades both men and women contrary to what people may say. And there are many negative health impacts regarding porn
Actually, straight porn is an industry that pays women much more than men. So feminists should take several seats before they want to tell other what they should do with their own bodies.
I think the reason why people think porn degrades women is because it's male-centric. The majority of porn, even lesbian porn, is aimed with a straight male customer in mind. The titles are often quite misogynistic and the female actresses are often the recipients of a lot of abuse.
You know it's bad when you let the actions of a relative few define your entire gender.

well then in cases like mine is it degrading men? Even though most of the customers are men themselves? So how is that?

Well the chemicals released when watching porn are similar to those when doing drugs which can lead to addiction. You can read up on it, there are lots of negative health impacts.
Most mainstream porn is unrealistic. It gives people unreasonable ideas of what to expect from their own sex lives and can leave people unable to have a satisfying sex life. Sex is not and should not ever be all about gymnastics. Whereas a lot of people expect ridiculous positions and for women to be able to ejaculate from penetration alone as standard.

If we also consider the porn industry itself... there's a phenomenally high % of porn actors and actresses with mental health issues or substance/alcohol abuse. There's also the pressure around mandatory testing which can be flouted by some of the smaller and less ethical companies.

It's great to have fantasies... but if your fantasies involve somebody off their chops on downers having violent sex and having to look like they are enjoying it... then that's a bit sad.

Not all of both, but yes.

What happens is that the people who are against, usually on the basis of 'I wouldn't, therefore you mustn't', pick the worst examples and go 'how can anyone justify this?!?' What they don't do is look at the better examples, including..

Especially men on men porn?

.. much of this. There's an article by someone who used to direct porn and found that doing male on male porn was a lot nicer for the 'talent' as well as being easier for him to live with doing than mainstream straight porn where the women were treated like objects.

Ethical straight and lesbian and.. porn exists too, as does crap gay male porn.

Those same "chemicals" are those you get doing whatever that makes you happy.

Such as when you love someone, when you listen to a song you like, or when you see a movie you like.

So in the light of this "negative health impact", are you going to stop doing anything that'd make you happy?

Then are movies, drama, TV series all problematic? Is any of them realistic? Are fairytales not giving people unreasonable ideas?

How about reality TV? Do those shows represent the reality?

Then is pop music degrading to women? Should we all boycott Rihanna and Katy Perry videos?

How about movies? Are the Avengers films bad?

I know enough to know it is bad for you.

And so what? Obviously people will get 'happy' from watching porn the same way they may get 'happy' from doing drugs, I don't see your point.

To answer your questions... comparing other media outlets with porn isn't the same thing.
People do not learn how to live their lives via Game of Thrones.

Sex education in this country is terrible. It's very mechanical and doesn't deal with the mental, spiritual or political issues surrounding sex. It also tells us porn is bad.

All Porn is not necessarily bad. It can be great. But a lot of what passes for porn these days is problematic for all of the reasons which I outlined previously above.

The reality is that because of our poor communication about sexual values and gratification, a lot of people are taking cues and learning from porn. And feeling inadequate and worried that they aren't 'perfect' or that their nether regions aren't identical to what they see on screen.

If it was more realistic and if the industry was better regulated then there would be a lot of people having happier, more fulfilling sex lives without feeling that they had to 'perform' like the current trends in porn.
Go on Fight the new drug.
That'll help you

Do you have trouble reading?

The "chemicals" your brain releases when you're watching porn are:

dopamine - it's a chemical the brain releases as a reward. Humans get them when they eat something good, listen to a good song, meet a person you like, fall in love etc. Are you going to stop having good food because it turns out having good food is just as bad as watching porn?

norepinephrine - you get it when you're asked a question, when you're making a presentation, when you're writing an assignment etc. Are you going to drop out of school since apparently it's just as bad as watching porn?

Having these two kinds of chemicals are good for you - not negative - because they prevent depression, and ironically make you less likely to fall for addiction.

All the other chemicals are released whenever one has sex. Are we going to not have sex altogether?

Oh. So you're saying it's not true that people fantasize about having a prince charming without realizing that they don't exist?

People don't have the concept of "finding my better half" when one may not actually exist?

Surely I don't have to tell you there have been children and teenagers who died due to their imitating what they watched on TV, thinking they were real?
No Fap day 100 ******s
