Big 4 - Summer Internships/Placements/Springs 2017/18

the big 4 lacks a thread like what the IBer's worship.

when do the Big 4 tend to start letting applicants apply for their placement/summer internship programmes?

good luck with your applications

They usually open at some point between beginning of July and September for the most part unless anything has changed in recent years. Definitely worth it to get apps in as soon as poss as spaces do fill up. Also means you can probably have a couple internships sorted before uni starts again which makes the whole process so much less stressful as I personally found at the time.
TBF if you don't get an internship in banking you're ****ed.

?

No...

Besides half the world gets an internship in banking nowadays, nothing special, especially if it's not an internship with Suisse/BAML/SS and instead it's with some mid-level like Barclays, the Morgans, HSBC or the Japanese ones.

So wouldn't not having one put you at a disadvantage? If you want to apply to a mid tier then it's going to do you well.

Banking has more internships than jobs. Accounting has less than one third the internships as jobs.

There is no 'mid tier', unless you're talking about IB.

It would most definitely put you at a disadvantage when applying to IB if you have absolutely zero IB-related experience.

However, one is enough. Tens of thousands get internships or w/exp every single year at banks, so nobody really cares about tat on a CV anymore. Moreover, internships like Accn Big4 are hard to get and look better on a cv.

Not for banking... Most people get into accounting without any accounting internship. You make relevant contacts in a banking internship.

wat.

you realise that most FO summers attract tens of thousands of applicants a year right? and that merely getting an internship "at a bank" is not the same as applying to investment banking (or sales & trading, or research, or asset management).

it is way more competitive to get into a legitimate front office internship than it is to get into any of the big4/acn.

Got internships with EY, KPMG and Deloitte. Ama

when did you do your internships?

in what division did you intern in? was the exposure great? any memorable projects you worked on?

how was the culture at the respectable firms?

out of the 3 named, which one would you prefer to work for and why?

what is the general process?

when did you apply?

how did your partner interview go? how did you prepare for the essay assessment?
