Any foundation courses which are related to nursing.

I am currently looking at foundation degrees which will enable me to do a child nursing degree.

I have looked for foundation degrees in nursing but could not find any? IS IT JUST ME?

Does any one recommended any foundation degrees which will enable me to get into a child nursing degree?

Any help/ advice would be great.

1. Are you sure you mean a foundation degree i.e something you do at Uni rather than an Access course (something replacing A levels) which you do at college?

2. Whilst there might be a few separate degrees you are more likely to find it will be a nursing degree with foundation year . That means its part of the course and after the foundation year you continue automatically onto the main nursing course. They are normally for people with lower grades or who havent studied the preferred subjects.

So try looking for child nursing with foundation year.

I have finished my BTEC level 3 in Health and Social Care and this September i want ti apply to do a nursing foundation degree if possible or an alternative foundation degree to get me into a nursing degree.

I am taking a gap year, wanting to work as a healthcare assistant and then apply to university to do a foundation degree in nursing or something related or do a child nursing degree directly without needing to do a foundation degree to get me to a nursing degree.

The reason for me being more inclined to doing a foundation degree in nursing(if there are any) or something related unis because I do not feel confident to go straight into a nursing degree with my BTEC grades.

What grade did you get for BTEC? As long as you meet their requirements, it means you should be able to cope with it.

Have a look into the nursing apprenticeship, I remember you talking about it a while ago

I got DMM which means I can go to university without having to do a foundation degree if I wanted.

And yeah, i will look more into that.

I just want to plan every thing out in terms of my gap year, when i apply to university etc but by the looks of it, plans are not looking promising

Are you aware of the difference between a foundation degree and a foundation year? In case the answer is no, the former is basically the first 2 years of a degree, and the latter is a preparatory year, taken prior to starting the main degree programme. Both are normally done at university (though some FE colleges offer foundation degrees accredited by a nearby university).

Hi there,

sorry if I'm late! I'm currently sitting the foundation year at UCLan whilst I resit my gases maths, leading onto children's nursing in September 2018. The average pass mark/ grade we need to progress is 50% for adult and mental health, and 60% for children's nursing. :smile:
