Thanks
Sometimes, but when people fail to understand your argument properly (and raise the same criticism that you've addressed over and over again) it's just annoying.

Also I see debates going around in circles all the time. If your starting premises are polar opposites, there really is no point. You have to have some basic common ground.

I also cringe when people throw around 'invalid' during the debate without understanding the logical concept of validity. People use 'invalid' to mean false. That. is. not. what. invalid. means.

An argument is valid if it is impossible for the premises to be true and the conclusion false, simultaneously. Validity says nothing about the actual truth value of the argument.

No. I just love derailing some of the stupid threads these days
I do not mind debating over mediums such as TSR etc.
there is some high quality mass debating late at night.

:borat:
Debating is awful, especially on the religious threads, from both sides.
Not really any dialogue or understanding, just people trying to score.
No. It's really hard to debate someone over the internet. I prefer debating in person.

One example I debated on was the proposition that taxation was a legal form of theft. *face palm*

I was having one with him the other day. He was making himself look like such a fool but I'll give it to him that he carried on with it for a fair bit.

JMR, I will refer you to Richard Koo's empirical evidence/report/arguments on the causes and escaping a balance sheet recession (liquidity trap ) as it is quite intriguing.
