Any Journalists that can give me some advice?

I decided to become a Journalist and I'm taking the following A-Levels:

Psychology .
Philosophy .
History.

My question is would it be better to take Journalism as an undergraduate degree and then move straight to a Journalism job or should I take a degree course in a subject such as History or Philosophy then move on to a postgraduate in Journalism?

Second question is should I do a postgraduate in Journalism after History or Philosophy undergraduate or just do History or Philosophy undergraduate and hopefully get a job?

I'm nt a journalist *yet* but I am currently doing an MA in Journalism. (BJTC Accredited)

I dont think it really matters - doing a Journalism undergrad means you wont have/need to do a Masters etc.

If you go down the undergrad route though, make sure it is NCTJ or BJTC accredited, as a lot of places (not all) ask for a accredited journalism qualification - even some press office jobs!

NCTJ:

BJTC:

You can also look at the BBC schemes too: http://www.bbc.co.uk/careers/trainee-schemes-and-apprenticeships]

Hope that helps

What sort of university would you be aiming at if you went for a subject like history or philosophy?

If I go to City University in London they have a Journalism course in BA (Hons).

Where do I find NCTJ & BJTC degree courses in Journalism?

They are listed on their websites which I linked.

Plus, I believe City is accredited anyway and its one of the best in the country for Journalism. They have a fair few famous alumni

Awesome

So would City University London be a good place to study Journalism. And also would it look good on my CV for job applications?

If you are at that level then do another subject first, then journalism.

I concur with the above about City and Cardiff.
