recommend your favourite poems/poets. Really need to start reading more varied poetry since I am applying for English at uni and want to show a wide interest.

When We Two Parted and She Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron
The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes
If Tomorrow Starts Without Me (possibly by David Romano)
The Female of the Species by Rudyard Kipling
There is also a channel on Youtube called SpokenVerse with loads of poem recitations. That might be a good place to check out :smile:

microcosmos by siegfried sassoon, mushrooms by sylvia plath. both poets have a lot of other good stuff. also kate tempest (a spoken word artist) is rad.

I'm the founder, this is my thread.
Post a crap rap and get a fist to the head.

You threaten me and you'll be dead It's past your bedtime so go to bed

I'm the teacher, this is my class.

You think you're slick, your rap ain't sh**.
I dream fire; feel my desire while I spit this fire. When I make it rain, they tell me to go higher. Who cares what you say, I still look flyer.

Oh come on burrito, you know you can't rap. if I saw you in person, I'd need someone to hold me back - I'm ruthless. once I'm done with you, you'll be left toothless.

Money in the bank tend to disagree
Ain't nobody dare f***in with me
Been in the game for longer than 2Pac Meanwhile you there just selling some cheap crack

Oh dear lord, that rap was the worst
You're mum liked the crack though, whilst I filled hers.
If you couldn't tell, I'm winning this battle.
This is no luck game, this ain't no raffle.

Is that how its is den?
This ting thinks he flyer than them men
Lemme tell you boo
You aint gotta clue
This peng ting walking circles round me
Got me saying finally
His joo be in my mouth
As he goes down south

I'm assuming you're interested in classic poems, I suggest reading Eliot (Wasteland). His work is quite complicated but very interesting.

Loads of works by Charles Bukowski (Young man on busstop bench, Fooling Marie, They, all of them, A love poem, Somebody, Dreaming). I bought Bukowski's entire collection for a guy I was in love with (he was a massive fan). He told me to keep it to remember him. He's not around anymore so I read it when I miss him.
