Only the good Uni's should survive.

I'm talking Oxbridge, LSE, Imperial and certain courses at Warwick, UCL, Durham etc.. That would reduce the number of (dumb) people going to uni and so the (clever) people who do go should get no tuition costs.

I chose Manny over UCL for chemical engineering, just because its ranked highly overall doesn't mean Its great for every subject.

The people who are not so academically successful shouldn't go to uni, do other apprenticeships and the people who work at sh*tty unis should find work elsewhere if they are good enough otherwise academica doesn't need them.

On average they are as even though they have similar grades they had to interview and the Oxbridge interview system is one of the hardest there is.

That won't be enough - we need specialist Engineering unis like Brookes and Loughborough and all the medical schools.

We need a range of degrees and a range of unis - some of the best Maths teachers I've worked with didn't attend any on your list!

I went to a RG (Glasgow) for my undergrad and now I am doing my research master's at an ex-polytechnic (Portsmouth), because I am from the area (makes it cheaper for me to live), and the supervisor I wanted to work with is working at this university. It is generally A level students obsessed with university rankings (for some odd reason), that have no idea about how universities actually run and operate, that seem to spout this kind of baseless rhetoric. As long as you have the academic quality and determination, you can succeed at any university in your chosen subject.
