Deadline firmly accept

It's been more than two weeks since I have sent the documents needed for my conditional offer to become unconditional, but have not heard back yet. The deadline to firmly accept the offer is the 1st of August. How does this work? Do I need the offer to be unconditional or can I firmly accept the offer. I mean, there shouldn't be any reason for them not accepting me as I have the votes needed to enter, but I would really like to not pay before being sure that I have been accepted.

Call them, and check they received the information they need.

Wait, you have an offer, but you haven't accepted it? Just accept the offer...! (And call them to make sure they have the results.)

I'm not from the UK, I don't know how these things work.:s-smilie: The offer I have is conditional. Shouldn't I wait for it to become unconditional?

How have you received this offer? Is it through UCAS? Is it an accommodation offer? Did you apply directly to the uni?

Is this on UCAS Track? Accept the offer. And call the university.

It's a postgraduate offer. It's not an accommodation offer, it's an offer to study there. I applied directly from the University service. They have received the documents (I contacted them one week ago), but they are in queue to be considered.

Hi Elena,

I've sent the Admissions team an email asking if they can let me know when the offer will change from conditional to unconditional. They are dealing with a huge amount of enquiries at the moment, hence the delay. I will let you know when I hear back from them. If they haven't responded by tomorrow morning then I will call them directly on your behalf. What did they say when you called them last week, did they give you a timescale of when your documents were likely to be reviewed?

All the best,
Ashley

Hey Elena,

The Admissions team have just gotten back to me.

They process the documents in the date order in which they were sent to them, so there is a bit of a backlog at the moment. However, the team leader will be looking into your documents for you first thing tomorrow morning and the Admissions team will be in contact with you ASAP after that to update you

Hope this helps!

All the best,
Ashley

No worries

The Admissions team have also just provided me with the following information, which you may find useful:

"Students will need to pay the deposit if they want to guarantee their place for the course before the deadline. They are welcome to wait until they have an Unconditional offer (which might be after the 1st deadline, but hopefully won't be!) but if it's paid after the deadline it's subject to places available on the programme.

We aren't able to extend the deadline this year due to the high number of applications.

You might also find our Refund policy useful: https://www.surrey.ac.uk/apply/policies/postgraduate-admissions-policy"

Hope this helps! If any of what's written above isn't clear, please discuss it with the Admissions team when they get in contact with you as I don't have the specialist knowledge surrounding this process to advise you (sorry!).

All the best,
Ashley

It's no trouble really! We just want all our applicants to experience as smooth of a process as possible, and if I can help with that in any way then I will do my best
