Psychology University Courses

I have been struggling with which course to pick as I enjoy Psychology as a subject but i lack interest in the scientific side of it. I am more interested in the social side of the subject however I hate Sociology. I was wondering if anybody had any idea of a course that would be of an interest to me? I'm looking to going to uni next year:smile::smile::smile:

There's social psychology degrees out there but you wouldn't be entirely specialising in it as they'd expect you to do core modules, for example kent do one https://www.kent.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/51/social-psychology#structure, there are also social science degrees out there too, what you need to do realistically is look into specific modules in degrees rather than the overall title to get yourself a degree that suits your interests.
Hi flosswinterberry,

If you are interested in studying Psychology why not check out some of the courses we have available to combine with Psychology here at Canterbury Christ Church University. We have a range of courses you can combine with Psychology such as Advertising, Applied Criminology, Drama, Early Childhood Studies, English Literature and Tourism and Leisure Studies. If you are interested in the types of questions like: How do children learn to talk? How do we diagnose and treat depression? Why do people commit crimes? These are all questions we explore within our creative and interesting Psychology degree.

Here's a link to our Psychology course webpage to find out more: https://www.canterbury.ac.uk/study-here/courses/undergraduate/psychology-17-18.aspx

Hope this helps and best of luck.

If you are not interested in science or the scientific method then I would not invest in a psychology degree of any kind, social or straight psychology, despite what the previous university posts are trying to sell you. All fields of psychology require science, the use of the scientific method, and statistics/analysis to varying degrees.

If you prefer thinking about ideas and issues "socially" I would perhaps recommend a philosophy degree.
