Side note, I also found it really difficult to accept I had a disability, took me years. Still don't fully accept it. But there you go! lol.

Glad I'm not the only one! It seems some people are very quick to accept the label, but I am struggling with it.

:hugs: It is hard, some days are easier than others in that respect.

If you need to vent or anything, feel free to PM me.
Hi guys, we're not allowed to post Facebook groups I'm afraid.

You're not meant to do the form on your worst day. They'll work this out. It's how you are half the time.

As for evidence - it's anything that backs up your needs. So, your letter stating you have a hospital appointment isn't relevant at all.

However, they ignore everything. I sent in a bunch of letters stating the following:
- how my Autism affects me
- I have ongoing hearing problems and how these affect me
- a letter from my friend about how my Autism / communication difficulties affect me
- a letter from my mum
- a diary (although, they did take into account that I almost managed to get run over...)

The result? I have no hearing problems (they obviously know something no-one else does) and my Autism causes me no problems at all. We'll just ignore the meltdowns and we'll just ignore the fact that I don't socialise because the noise hurts and because too many people is just too overwhelming.

They will use absolutely everything against you. As someone who talks, I have no communication difficulties, Um, the guy who attended my assessment with me is a retired communications / English teacher. He sat there and said the opposite.
Thank-you, same to you.

You're either psychic or just accidentally answered my next question. I honestly wasn't sure how to answer the questions, whether it was sort of what an average day feels like or worst case scenario kinda answers. Good to know that it's worst case, which means possibly a few different answers to the daily living questions.

I am curious, however, about what they'd say if I were called to have an assesment and I wasn't having one of my "bad days". I guess I'll get help from one of the pages you've suggested, thanks a lot again!

Out of curiosity, I just took the test (I don't live in the UK.) and scored 4 on daily living. 0 for mobility. 10 and 16 would tell you that this is exactly what situation these funds are designed for. I felt weird getting financial aid for learning disabilities. I've had these problems all my life and adapted to them but I've had to keep in mind, it's just while I'm in school and it's just equitable access to education. As long as you're using these systems as intended, there's nothing wrong with it.

Ah yikes, sorry about the Facebook groups thing - totally my bad.

Good to know that it's not worst possible days, but rather the "average" day. My average days are pretty rubish and I can certainly say it's the norm for more than half the time.

Yeah, sounds like you went through some crap with these guys despite completely solid evidence. I have pretty much all the same letters that you had plus more. I've got loads and loads of letters sent to my university for various things such as ECs and retake applications as well as freedom pass letters and general letters of symptoms, all written and signed off by specially trained MS Nurses and a head neurologist. I've also been keeping a symptom diary since early this year but I suppose I'll just have to see what they're worth when I go through the application process.

Did you get your application reassessed or appeal (not sure of the process) and if you did what did they say?

Thanks for your insight, too.

Eventually, kind of. Still wrong; but really couldn't be arsed with going through with an appeal.

Oh damn, seems like a pain in the backside for sure. I am really shocked at how these HMRC affiliates (not sure if you can call them that but for lack of better term..) really have an issue with anyone who dares to use them.

I had a really crappy time with the Job Centre in my gap year and it almost seemed like they resented me for using their service. Ah well.

Oh you're going to make me do check in are you?

Hi, I'm Kindred. I have a few conditions including ADD, dyslexia, hypothyroidism, IBS and some history with depression and OCD. And I'm still doing the rounds to work out if that's everything or if there's more to discover.
I was diagnosed with most of my conditions around the end of college because I just stopped being able to cope with anything and eventually worked out it was a good idea to see a doctor.

I'm happy to talk about any of my stuff so if anybody wants to know anything just ask.
