True.
Where is the international media including Al Jazeera now?

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-myanmar-rohingya-hindus/slaughtered-hindus-a-testament-to-brutality-of-myanmars-conflict-idUSKCN1C21M6?il=0

Hindu Rohingya women are reporting that they are being forced to remove sindoor (a traditional vermilion red powder worn by married women along the parting of their hair) break their bangles, and marry Muslim men, converting religion in the process.

Many of women are allegedly forced to give up their Hindu traditions and read namaz (pray) five times a day.

They've been forgotten, and will continue to be so because they don't fit the narrative displayed by the media. What's worse is the only reason the Myanmar government "care" is because it legitimizes the violence against the Rohingya Muslims. Otherwise, they have no one :frown: Hopefully their situation gets better in Bangladesh, but if the brutes who forced them to convert are there... I doubt it. There's no chance of India offering to take them is there? :frown:

Yes that's true.Yeah they probably are in Bangladesh too. Bangladesh is not that good of a country for hindus anyway.

There are already 40,000 Muslim rohingyas in India and the government is seeking to deport them so I think that It will not be easy for secular India to accept the rohingya Hindu refugees demand while the government is pushing for the deportation of Rohingya Muslims.

The government may sympathise with them but problem here is that India is a secular country.

Definitely not!

I had read something similar actually- that a minister (?) wanted to deport them but I hadn't seen Modi say anything and I didn't see the topic of Rohingya refugees come up when Modi visited Myanmar. The Rohingya are stateless though aren't they? So it's not possible to deport considering they have nowhere to go back to, which is why I thought it was all rhetoric anyway. Definitely, it would look bad internationally but considering even a secular India is really the only "homeland" for Hindus compared to Muslims, it doesn't seem fair. The Rohingya Hindus will continue to be persecuted in Bangladesh, for both being Rohingya and for being Hindu :frown:

The Government has filed a charge sheet in the Supreme court seeking to deport them. Whether they will be deported or not is for the court to decide.

"Meanwhile, the top court fixed a batch of pleas on Rohingya issue for hearing on October 13 and asked the Centre and others to file documents including international conventions for its assistance."
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/illegal-immigrants-cant-claim-fundamental-rights-government-tells-supreme-court-1758212

And apparently Myanmar is ready to take them back.
http://www.thehindu.com/news/international/myanmar-makes-proposal-to-take-back-rohingya-refugee/article19784653.ece

Unfortunately that's true and I too feel that it's unfair but we can't do anything about it or about what happened 70 years ago and what decisions Indian leadership of that time took(Secularism etc).

Yes I agree we should never have high expectations from the Indian government.

Legally the SC will decide (do you know whether international laws are taken into account or just Indian laws?) it's just practically I'm not sure it will happen whatever the outcome is. Thanks for the articles, the second one seems quite lax on details such as timeframe and requirements on the Rohingyas who are to be repatriated, but I'm interested in seeing what happens! Considering claims such as landmines being put in place to stop them coming back and that almost 500,000 have sought refuge in Bangladesh in the past few weeks alone, I'm dubious of any claims

I think it's great that India is secular and wouldn't have it any other way, especially since we have sizable numbers of minorities. I think in general India could petition for the rights of Hindus globally, it's just this is a very special case.

Of any government
