What is it like commuting to university everyday?

It would depend on how long the commute was and when your classes are. If you have a longish commute and your classes were 9am to 6pm, you might find commuting a bit of a hassle. If you have less contact hours, you might find it more manageable. My cousin commuted to her university, about 40mins one way. She still find it easy to make friends and attend societies and events. At first, she couldn't attend late night events like clubbing, but she made good friends that she would stay with after a late night out.

It's knackering. I've a 6pm lecture today on campus a hr away after work and I don't ****in wanna.

How far is your commute?

Hi i have recently dropped out of university this year as i hated every minute of living away from home and having no one to speak to everyday. Since i wont be returning to a university that i would have to live at do people that commute everyday enjoy uni as it is and how much socialising do you do with people at the uni itself? Thanks for any replies in advance.

A 30 minute drive is nothing compared to what other people do.

You'll still be able to socialise and you can take an Uber back home on days you want to drink.

If the universities around you are not so good, would you reconsider applying for a good uni and living in halls again?

The problem is that the uni that is 30 minutes away is a much worse uni than the one i dropped out of.

nicest thing I've heard all day on here mate, cheers . Where I lived earlier I walked about 35, 40 minutes to and from campus. Nearly killed me lol. But it was to save money not using it on fare. You're driving though, you'll be fine. I know people taking multiple buses and trains and that with no other option. The commute stress is actually what discouraged me from uni, but not cos it got in the way of socialising. A lot of people live at uni but I mean it never stopped me socialising. You speak and participate in lectures, tutorials..or go freshers events, that's what freshers is for. Orientation. Make yourself known, like chill out a bit on campus before going home. Eat on campus. It's all looks and personality tbh.

Just to check -- have you factored in the ability to park your car and the time to get from where your car is parked to where your lectures are?

Parking can be a problem at many universities; and even where there are car parks they may be staff-only or require a permit.
